Yikes...caught red handed...
The Mini's owners were quite enthusiastic and the car handled quite well - hopefully they will return for another event.
GPS didn't help me find 3rd when I drove Ben's car. OEM engine mounts are cheap, even cheaper if you buy through Mazda's racing development program ...

Re: Tire Dilema...
Getting used to the grip and response will be the most effective improvement (slower throttle application, early/smooth steering inputs), and I think the most rewarding. But you may find that a more compliant rear setup will improve the ability to put the power to the ground. Going back to street ...

Re: Tire Dilema...
What width wheels?
How about the BFG Rival? I have tried these out on a number of cars and while they haven't always impressed me with their responsiveness they have generally been immediately grippy, very quick and forgiving - and I have seen them used on a few heavier, higher-horsepower cars with ...

Re: Parts for Chris' Mustang
NT01s are ok - what is your priority, grip or longevity?
Also - I have not posted them for sale yet but I have a set of four used 265/40-17 Dunlop Direzza Z1s - at least 4/32nd tread remaining, even wear and plenty of heat cycles left - if you can use them I don't mind discounting them some more ...

Re: Oil preference - synthetic or dino?
Yes I still use M1 but now it is 10wSomething "High Mileage". I have not sent out for an oil analysis in a long time, guess I will do that on the next oil change.

Re: Oil preference - synthetic or dino?
Have not tried Nextgen but since I also drive a pushrod-powered V8 car at events figured I should chime in.
My Camaro came with Mobil1 5w30 factory fill (synthetic). On the occasion where the dealer put non-synthetic or a blend in (during the early warranty years), I did notice that after repeated ...

Re: Endurocross 2013
Good event as always.
I kind of sucked...need to get used to driving the Camaro again.
Threw away the second run for an impromptu drift session...totally worth it
Oh and guess I need a new muffler...apparently the old one is getting too loud...

Re: Power:Weight in Mod Classes
For M2 cars, the question would apply more to something like your G8 with added FI. By the current rules, it would bump to M1. But, would something with as much power as a boosted LS is capable of making be appropriate for M1?
Perhaps we should find out :D
Anyway...I agree with what you that ...

Re: Power:Weight in Mod Classes
1.6 Miatas would suffer, stock or street-prepared, if bunched in with any 1.8 Torsen-y equipped Miatas. As you add power a good diff makes even more of a difference since you have the potential to "exit" each corner sooner as well as faster. It could be the discriminator for pushing one up or down a ...

Pics of said muffins or it didn't happen?

Um well not quite what I was expecting to see...but anyway...I guess that's how they get lots of repeat business :)

Re: April 14th Brooksville Split Event
Doug your "wet dishrag handskake" upshifting technique was the key to my success.
Well except for the time I hit 5th gear anyway, in which case I might have been cursing your name...
But I digress. Some of my wasted time (way more than a second with no mistakes) was from being a bit tentative on ...

Re: April 14th Brooksville Split Event
You guys were still quick but to be fair I did not think it was strictly a power course. If you maintained maximum momentum (say that three times fast) through the entry of the slow elements, which the smallest cars can do best, by setting up early enough you could really extend the acceleration ...

Re: April 14th Brooksville Split Event
Good AM event, challenging course when trying to maintain maximum speed (I found 3rd gear instead of 5th! well, most of the time...) and kudos to those keeping everything running smoothly and on schedule. Left at least a second on the table but still learning the car. I probably should have helped ...

Re: S2 Here we come
Congrats on the purchase! The sheer number of S2/CS street tire participants is why I decided to pick up the Miata (as opposed to usually running my Camaro in a SCCA class of one).
Doug you are too kind - the Miata actually seems to be running pretty well (despite my best efforts). I am however ...

No problem Scott. I was going to tell you the truth about how I was dropping banana peels out the window at the turnaround to slow you down, but the Torsen story is much better :P

Loren, just to be clear I think the driver's meeting and our meeting/motivational speaker is very good as is. We all make mistakes or are distracted from time to time so I know how that goes. Maybe just a little more emphasis on situational awareness and looking out for your fellow worker would be ...

Just wanted to add: good event. I was slower than usual but not for lack of trying. One day I will buy new tires, but that day is not today nor tomorrow.
