Re: April 25 - FAST Classic T&T
I thought the purpose of a test and tune was testing and tuning. If I have to worry about timing and working , it takes away from the purpose. Previous test and tunes had much fewer people, timers ran so you could see your time but there was no official timing, course work was limited and in fact ...

Re: *RULE CHANGE* 2015-16 Season Street Tire Minimum Treadwe
Based on what I have been reading it would appear that the new 200's are just the old 140's with the number changed. There is actually no standardization, and the tire companies are allowed to police themselves.

Re: Oct 18, 2014 - Post Event
Les, you probably need a new battery. My old car had no alternator and I could go a whole weekend with two drivers without a problem. I used to run a deep discharge optima blue top. Good for about three seasons even though it would get almost fully discharged on occasion.

Re: Newbie questions
My answer was because he had asked about an SCCA event. They won't let him run because his car does not meet their rules.
A midget rolled over at an event in Ft Myers when a tire hit the edge of an expansion joint. Only moderate injury to the driver because it rolled slowly and gave him time to lay ...

Also, you won't be able to run an open top car without a roll bar/cage. Even if you could why would you?

Re: Newbie questions
SCCA rules are rather voluminous, especially in the mod classes. You can read for yourself for the details. DM and EM specifically exclude all non automobile motors (ie motorcycle, snowmobile, etc) Your body chassis doesn't meet the stringent requirements of BM, CM, and FM which are based on the ...

Re: Story Time: Tech Inspection
It's not the time to get ready for tech, that's done at home, it's the time to put things back together after tech, plus waiting to get teched while the car is apart enough to be checked.

Re: Story Time: Tech Inspection
So if we are going to continue roving tech, how will we make sure they will get to the hard to examine cars without missing the time for course walk, etc. I have had many occasions where tech came around shortly before the start time since I was parked fairly far out on the runway. I would have to ...

Re: Driving the point home about tire break in
If you put on stickers and just run them for many laps the first time on the car you are not breaking them in correctly and will waste a lot of tire. For track tires, you should be heat cycling prior to racing. This means running the tires for about 15 minutes beginning at slow speeds and gradually ...

Re: Trans rebuild
I have a guy in Pasco. Built the trans in my impala ss. That was more than a stock rebuild, but it had to live in a 4400 lb car with over 500 crank hp. He does a real nice job on stock rebuild as well. If you are interested let me know and I will pm his name and phone number.

Re: FAST Duel 2013! December 8 @ SPC
Car is still apart and trailer isn't done yet. Looks like I won't make it this month. In fact, even january may be tough since I have to fix my daily driver before I can get back to the race car.

Re: FAST Duel 2013 Invitations
As those who have been out to the barn can attest, my car is still apart. If I am lucky it will be back together by the Dec event. At that point I will have not driven since March, I have tires from last season, no shake down of the changes to the car. So far I still need to replace a bad wheel ...

Re: Classing for 2014 Season
SCCA is reclassing the stock class for next year. Stock class will now be called street class and will be run on tires with 140 treadwear in 2014 and 200 treadwear in 2015. There will likely be some changes of where cars are classified. They are also combining gs and hs, and really changing ss, as ...

Re: June 15 - Tampa Bay Downs
Is the cost of this site more like SPC or Brookesville. Since it's asphalt, if it works out I would rather see it used instead of SPC rather than Brookesville , especially if it's lower priced.

Re: The FAST Test & Tune - April 13, 2013
We are awaiting an upgrade to do segment timing. If we have it, we will have two courses of three main elements each with segment timing. If we don't have segment timing we will have courses set with fewer but similar elements so that times reflect the the same types of manuvers. In the past we have ...

Re: March 10th SPC-Split Event Format
one of the things done at other clubs is to have a pile of preprinted block numbers that can be taped to the side of the car. They are easy to see, and they are sold for 50 cents a page. Money to the club. A single number on a 8x11 sheet is easy to see and since it's black on white the car color ...

Also, I think daylight savings time starts that day so another hour lost.
