The Massive Evo That Couldn't
I had it ceramic coated. They didn't do a good job covering it up so a lot of fine sand blasting particals got into the pan and couldn't all be removed since the baffles don't come out. Had to have someone cut the pan, clean it out and then weld it back together.

After that worked on removing the oem oil pan with one that has some baffles and holds more oil. Reasoning is due to low oil pressure on long ride handers when having lots of grip. Never done an oil pan swap before but it kinda was a PITA. After all buttoned up, there is a small leak :D :bangwall: ....

Whelp the work is all about done, what a fun couple of weeks working on and off the car. Doing this outside in this Sun and heat is BRUTAL. Basically had to work in short bursts depending when the sun was behind some clouds. First, pulled the control arms off, again... Had the old bushings pressed o...

Who’s the coilover company, sounds like the ones I have, fortune auto. You get to choose the spring rates and they valve it according to the rates. I’m assuming the adjustable damping is mostly the rebound and a tiny bit of compression. How big are the bumpstops and how much bump is available before...

Why take half measures when you can go full on 4 way adjustable coilovers. Adjust for Low high speed compression and rebound :snicker: . Im surprised bilstein has a coilover kit for that car. What springrates do they come with and whats the springrate of the lowered springs? My rear had kinda annoyi...

I have some car work I want to get done by early September before an autocross event. First, replacing my coilovers which are 1 way, to the 2 way version. They’re Fortune Auto Pro 2 Way which is the same company that my current coilovers are. I got 2nd hand but I had them ship them to Fortune Auto t...

Looking at the weather looks like their may be rain. Keeping an eye on it but if it does rain, what’s the plan. If it does straight up look like a rain day I’ll have to skip. Also tools, do we need to bring all the tools, or just certain ones?

:snicker: If it goes according to plan then sure, you can test drive. My only concern is that could replacing the bushing affect the alignment. I’m thinking it shouldn’t since it’s just going from rubber to poly, and I’m just unhooking the ball joints, sway end links and pulling the control control ...

Car came out dope! All the money on these cars pretty much went in to the engine, and drivetrain. With some suspension work, can be pretty beast. Such a good platform. How is it compared to the sti street wise? Fyi, jealous of the oil pan :buck: . I may be getting oil pan thing done soon so I can st...

Also, had the friendly machine shop 'hot tank' the original oil pan: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51197545631_35aaf056b1_z.jpg We will likely start with this pan and upgrade to one with 'trap doors' to avoid any issue with oil starvation...at a later date. The money tree is getting thin! Als...

FYI if you removed the thing thats is marked in the red square, you might have to use thread sealant on one of the bolts. On the Evo 8/9 there is an oily galley behind one of the bolts and if you don't use thread sealant, it will leak oil. Not sure about that Evo but that would be something I would ...
