Season's Greetings from Brooksville

Postby Native » Sun Dec 05, 2010 8:23 pm

The folks at the airport sent a nice season's greetings card to FAST and all it's members.

Just wanted to electronically pass it on.

Any word on how secure the future of the site is for autocross purposes? It's gonna suck when they decide to make an office park or something out of it.

The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

I've heard absolutely nothing. I'd have to imagine that if the runway was going to disappear it'd be all over TR and emails.

From what I've been able to track, further development is still a long term threat. The airport website advertises "2-4 acre industrial sites" available, and their illustrations overlap "our" runway. The good news is that there's still a fair amount of unoccupied real estate on the far side of the trees that belongs to the airport and is closer to an already developed road in the complex. With industrial real estate not moving all that fast, we're probably safe in the near term. And it's a good sign they consider us a respectable enough customer that we've made their corporate Christmas card list.

Actually, I may have a spot up here in Bushnell should Brooksville ever go away.
