July 10 Autocross at SPC

Postby Native » Sat Jun 11, 2011 9:27 pm

Registration is open. So sign up, already!

Jamie and Sam Sculerati have graciously volunteered to chair the event. All hail Jamie and Sam.

Supplies on hand:
1 case of water
1 case of Coke Zero
1 case of Sprite
about 1 case of assorted other sodas.

Basically, we need everything.
Also, a slew-pile of AA batteries for the radios - like 2-3 dozen.
Paper plates.

Well the trailer tow is covered.
Thanks, Brian.

That makes the event a REAL cakewalk for the chair. How about YOU!? Yeah, you, the one reading this thinking, "I'll just wait til the last minute to see who else volunteers." C'mon, do IT!

Need someone for Safety. I'll be available to train, but last event of the season isn't the best time to start training someone new... so needs to be someone who's had at least "some" training.

So long as he shows up for setup, I don't care what other assignments he pulls. :)

Yeah, we're going to try to revive the classic trash-talking autocross announcer. We used to do it all the time, it adds to the fun. But, announcing is NOT a worker position. It's all volunteer. If you want a piece of that action, grab your event chairman and let him know when you're available to do it!

Can we do that at SPC? Can't use the PA...maybe a roving commentator in the picnic area (can probably provide an extra radio, so he can get the cone calls)?

We're going to try the PA and plead ignorance if they complain. Odds are that whoever asked us to not use it several years ago isn't around any more. We'll keep the volume on the low side and the speakers pointed toward the picnic area and hope for the best.

Shhhhh...

Yeah... if I wanted to do it myself, I'd just do it. 8-) And I don't mind doing it... but if I do it all the time, nobody else learns to do it. So, I'm trying to get a few people well-trained in the art.

And nobody's jumped up for this event yet. I think Dave O is out of town for this one. He and Drew have been my primary trainees lately. Drew, you wanna do another one?

At least I won't have to be concerned with the worker stations.

Cool. Keep me in the loop. (and it's still a good idea to put worker stations on the map... we're just not assigning specific people to them until the workers gather to go out... or at least I think that's where we left it)

No worries -- I'll place them on the map when I submit the course for review.

That depends...are you volunteering to do the run groups for this event? Gotta take the job to call the shot. :)
