Good point!

We should try to announce times with the awards. Having a printer handy would make that easier, but I'm not sure we want to keep up with a printer unless somebody has one of those tiny ones that would fit in the laptop bag that they want to donate. (or know where we can get same for cheap)

IIRC, all Brian did yesterday was present the top three in each class the award stickers. I do like the idea of giving times and maybe recognizing some of the folks like Loren mentioned at the end. I am sure we can accomplish something along those lines as all the data is in the computer. Plus, now that I find out I get minions (insert super-villain wah-ha-ha laugh here), I can conquer the world.

I will check tomorrow but I think I have a small portable HP printer that will run on 110v or battery that I can donate to the club to print out results, post changes and such.

Fun Event! :thumbwink:

Regarding awards- The original reason for the change was all the unclaimed ones from previous events. I think we should hand them out like we always have and if you miss the next event and don't claim it the award gets recycled. It's just a sticker, not cash or trophies or event credit. I know to some a sticker is a nice reminder of your accomplishments, but if you want it make sure you keep showing up to events and they're yours. If you're a no show at the next event :nope: , it must not have been that important :dunno: .

Had a great time even despite the rain. Running in the rain was definitely interesting.

Quite disappointed in myself tho :( Last in class FTL

Great time, good food, crappy rain. I learned a lot about the "new" car. Looking forward to a drier Brooksville course next month.

Any more pictures out there? I need a new avatar.

Jamie, I can Co chair with you again in November, I would like to have a little more input on the course design if that's cool with you.

As far as awards go, I did call out the run groups for each one starting first through third place.

Ron and I touched on getting a printer, it would speed things up and I could also call out the times. Remember that this is a new idea handing out awards at the end of the event, I'm sure we can work out some of the bugs and streamline the event ceremony. I thought it went well, everyone applauded as the awards where handed out, I think it was quite fun actually.

I'm stupid ? :headscratch: I'm going to guess that was as tounge in cheek type reply :D

Loren, I have all the orange safety vests, they needed a good washing again, they were a bit stinky :derp: . Anyhow I won't be able to make the Oct 15th event, but will be there on the 16th. If you need them for Saturday's event, let me know, maybe we can meet up somewhere for lunch before then?

Yeah, let me know when you've got 'em all washed and ready. I'm usually free for lunch most weekdays. Or you can drop by one of the Monday evening gigs at the Kilt.

Thanks for taking the initiative! :salute:

Did not realize that Steve and john "tied" I think that if a "tie" is the exact same time, and not a 1000th of a second difference, than 2 awards should be given.

John you are getting a award, the award commissioner has spoken.

After looking at the run times, we have to figure that more than half had to run in the rain. It doesn't change the final outcome as far as placing in each class, but I thnk we all know that the groups that ran in the rain, were at a disavantage. Just a thought. ;)

I still won't complain about my 21st overall finish though.

I think run group 2 had the best of both worlds. A couple of dry runs and some fun in the wet.
I'm too lazy to do it, but did anyone figure out who had the best wet time?

Walk ons?

Postby twistedwankel » Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:34 pm

It appears the walk-ons who ran in the rain 4th heat factored into the final tallies.
What if the rain were reversed and they ran in the dry 3 hours later?
Wouldn't that totally upset the yearly points? Seems awkward.
I would like to suggest if it isn't all ready so:
If the walk-ons cannot run with their normal group they shouldn't be eligible for yearly points. I don't care if they win FTD on paper but it only seems fair they not be tallied "for real". Promotes early registration.

:lust: What a great well planned event. Short and smooth for tons of cars and well marked for no off courses when the lines got washed away. Great event guys.

It might, and that's an idea for the points meister to consider seriously.

Thanks...I wish I could claim no off-courses, but I know there were a few. Hopefully because people overcooked a turn, rather than getting lost.

Brian's doing the November course....we'll see what he comes up with.

Now that we have a printer (possibly), someone should look into using AXWARE to create run groups. Click one button and then print is all that needs done and you have perfectly split up run groups (in theory).

Sounds like Doug is volunteering to take on this task. I would do it, but this is a job that needs done during the novice course walk.

Brian - thanks for co-chairing with Jamie in November. That finishes out the year - thanks!

My .02 on the after-event awards - yes, sir, I LIKE it. Promotes the social aspect of the club and that in turn will promote more volunteerism. And some folks went out with us afterwards that we'd never have seen otherwise - and that's good too.

If we can score a printer, that'd be cool. Can it survive in the trailer, or is it another piece of equipment that someone's gonna have to drag home each time?

Event credits - I suppose we can sport co-chairs event credits too. :thumbwink:

Without splitting classes? If that's a function available on the menu, I'll fool with it next month, just to see what it gives me in comparison to what I work out manually.
