I agree that moving the cones as you suggest would have been a good idea, it was just a bit too tight.Loren wrote:[There just wasn't QUITE enough room on the outside of that turn! Had we moved the center wall and "pin cone" to the north another 5-10 feet as we talked about when we walked it, I think the course would have ended up being a little easier to drive. Or... would that have screwed up the fun entry turn?

Ah, ok...the pic on his post threw me off. Either way, who ever the RX-8 was I was pulling for him/her.Loren wrote:Royce, the RX-8 wasn't Chuck this time. He was driving Chris' MX-5.
I have a video to post up as soon as i can grab it from my buddy that took it. It should illustrate the right front lock up fairly well.

That car is driven by a hispanic guy, forgot his name, a real rotor head with multiple RX cars. That RX8 is heavily modified and completely badass. Take a close look at it next time. Also, check out Chung's red RX8, which is equally as impressive. Too many red RX8s!!RacingHart71 wrote:Ah, ok...the pic on his post threw me off. Sorry for my confusion. Much respect though. Can you ever have too many RX-anythings, in red or any other color?

My biggest chuckle of the day was when I saw Chris leave the starting line for his first run and all the magnetic numbers that Chuck had so carefully stuck on the trunk lid slid right off!

I think we should just keep handing them out at the end of the day like we have been doing. Passing them out in the morning seemed to take to much time.Loren wrote: Maybe we can get in the habit of handing them out immediately before the driver's meeting, like during the novice walk or something? We had the rule that if you're not there at the end of the day to get your sticker you missed out. I think we could relax that rule and give out stickers at a later event if the person requests them. We could either go by the honor system or ask that the person wanting a sticker just has to show the results page. Either way I don't have a problem giving out awards during the event if someone wants one.

I think the split event format is very likely going to become our norm in some fashion or another. With that, not everyone is going to be there at the end of the day. We need a way to get those people their awards.Solar wrote:I think we should just keep handing them out at the end of the day like we have been doing. We can do it "on the fly", and just have them ask. But, it's a little cumbersome to have 10-20 different people come ask you for a sticker throughout the course of a day. Would be better to have a standard time, that's why I suggested "pre-driver's meeting". Just let it be known that we'll have the sticker box handy 10 minutes before the driver's meeting. Perfect time to come ask for your sticker.

That's a good idea, I like the idea of people asking for them instead of calling out names, would make the process much quicker.Loren wrote: I suggested "pre-driver's meeting". Just put a box of stickers out on the table with a sign like this.

Yep, I watched the "award envelope recital" one to many times. If people want them, they can stick around for the award presentation, or they can ask for them later.

Re: March 10th SPC-Split Event Format
We can still do it at the end of the event. That's what we've been doing, and there's still ever only half the winners on hand to accept anyway. After that, if the driver wants their sticka, as you said they can come find one of us and claim it at their leisure.Loren wrote: For now, if you have a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place finish and didn't get your sticker, come find me, Steve, or Brian at an event and we'll hook you up.
Maybe we can get in the habit of handing them out immediately before the driver's meeting, like during the novice walk or something? Brian? Steve? Thoughts?
edit: guess I shoulda read the rest of this thread before posting.

edit: Get your sticka at registration in the morning?

Re: March 10th SPC-Split Event Format
And we all know how busy registration is. I'm not keen on adding to their burden.
We have time built into the schedule before the driver's meeting for the novice walk. If you're winning stickers, you probably don't need to go on the novice walk, and you're just standing around waiting.

Re: March 10th SPC-Split Event Format
I had a great time as usual at the FAST events! Lots of fun and lots of nice people to chat with! Royce's excitement as a newcomer rubbed off and made my day a little more fun too. Good talking with you, Royce, at the walk-through.
The split format was great. Will it continue at Brooksville events as well? That may make it a bit easier for me to attend those ones.
Keep up the good work, fellas!
Edit: A new venue in Bradenton would be radical!!

And as for a site in Bradenton, we're always in the market for new sites - make a suggestion that has enough safe space and doesn't cost an arm and a leg and we'll look into it.

Looks like alot of positive feedback on the March FAST (no lunch) event - pun intended:)
Lots more drivers for sure.
Are there anymore volunteer first time Chairs and Co-Chairs lining up for future events with all this excitement?

Re: March 10th SPC-Split Event Format
Yes...an auto-x event would be awesome in Sarasota/Bradenton. I know that there are a few of us down here that would love a local event. Although I'm not sure on the venue. The porsche club uses the dog-track, but it's not that great. I wonder if there is anything in the industrial park in whitfield that might be usuable...Lof8 wrote:I had a great time as usual at the FAST events! Lots of fun and lots of nice people to chat with! The split format really works well for us commuting from here. Last time at Brooksville, I was in the last run group, so it's about a 12 hour day w/ drive time.
