Turns out our hero didn't have the fastest time on the first day: Neal Tovsen (formerly of CFR SCCA) did with 78.237

And to further muddy the water... Neal was on Dunlops. Topping both the RS3 and the Toyo drivers!

The take-away here is that these tires are as I stated earlier in this thread, all equivalent. Different in some ways, but if you tune the car AND the driver to suit the tire, any of them can win.

Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.
