Well I'm now that I'm confident I didn't get a hosing on my grey Vette I put some money in it for next season AND BEYOND.
Very pleased to find that Castrated aka "Castriota" Chevy (All women service managers) has a competent service dept so had them do a total dialysis of ALL fluids which are mostly synthetic and will last as long as I can still race the car other than an oil change every year.
Also had them lightly turn all the rotors since they were toasted on the surface which anyone the first few events could have smelled in grid:(
C5's aren't the easiest cars to jack up and get under for old guys and all but the oil was a one off so I let them do it properly. My Michelin Pilot SS are still 5-6/32's of tread and wearing pretty evenly so no reason to run to tire rack any time soon. No more squirm and they run cooler. Wear was all autocrosses as I only put 2500 miles on these tires last season going to and from.
I may still eventually spring for a new set of Bilstein Sports as they are really cheap compared to struts. Gotta love a vette for anything not involving a computer? They busted their hump trying to find issues and there are none other than the loose nut behind the wheel.
Hope S1 is ready for some heated competition as I know there are a lot of fast cars popping out of the woodwork!! Only losing a couple cars to S0 this year that were dominant with great drivers or not dominant without them - like always.
Anytime I put my car back in the garage I'm thankful it's not a Porsche. To think I used to actually want one of those??!!

Them there Porsches aren't all bad El Mayor.
Though I'm admittedly eyeballing C7 'Vettes and 1st gen 240Z's so take from that what you will.

Whoa I had a nice talk with Ken Marion about a "water leak" that just plain got out of hand. Since the motor had to come out to fix it he did the clutch, etc. Only way I'd ever race/afford one would be to lease it under warrantee:) That would also be true of a C7!! A couple of the test mules for magazines have had some disturbing issues. I think they have 32 computers. There is a good article about first gen 240Z collectible cars getting harder to find without rust and what to look for. Good article about them in latest Grass Roots MS mag. The little you have to drive the sky sounds like the limit as far as wearing it out. Kind of where I'm coming from too.NervesOfThrill wrote:Them there Porsches aren't all bad El Mayor.

Yeah the main reason I haven't already grabbed a 240z is the inflated prices on them these days,,,,,, and that the FL humidity turns them into swiss cheese pretty quickly. I looked at a half dozen before going with the Cayman and they all had a litany of issues that had been addressed and were due for rounds 2, 3 or 4 already in the same area.
I've always wanted a Corvette so a Z06 or ZR1 may be in my future someday, but not today.
