Loren wrote:Man, Steve hasn't done an Enduro in a while.

From the published event info that Dan clicked past without reading:

"An "Enduro" autocross is one where each run consists of multiple laps of a course that is designed to allow easy looping and to be relatively easy to drive. We usually do 4 or 5 lap runs for a run time of about 3.5-4 minutes. That's right... a whole event's worth of autocross in ONE run! Maybe that doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty intense and it WILL wear you out! This time, we'll be doing two runs on a variant of our "traditional" Enduro course."

So, there you go. Two runs of 4-5 laps each. If you run both sessions that's x2.

Sometimes we do a practice run of 2 laps, but if the event sells out, we won't have time to do it and you'll have to figure it out on the first lap of your first run. This is why we don't allow first timers at the Endurocross!
Haha... I clicked past nothing and did exactly what I said I would!

This one will surely throw off any veteran brooksville attendee who autopilot's registration... What do you mean I get lunch?

Or

Can someone help me flip my tires between sessions?

Finally got the shirt design done and the shirt order form set up. Slight technical glitch on the design, the final version will have the "2016" text transparent (shirt color) with the green outline as below. (it shows differently on the order form)

I know Ben loves the Fit, so I chivalrously waited several days to give him the opportunity. He didn't take it, so I am! Thanks for the other offers, but y'all know I'm all about driving slow cars fast... and *I* like the Fit, too!

Thanks, Soroya!

Perfect. She'll have a fresh oil change the Friday before.

I'll be there early to walk the course.

Pssst... the revised Endurocross 2016 course is now ready for your viewing pleasure. Bonus points to the old-timers who can spot what's different this time.

Are you insinuating that you're a course recycler? Station 2 sure looks a little busy (er).

For any given site, whether you think you're recycling or not, you ARE recycling courses after a while! Especially with an airstrip... there's only so much you can do.

I'm not above reusing good courses. Why not? Every course ends up being a slight "interpretation" of the map, anyway. At setup, we'll shift apexes around, change slalom offsets and spacing slightly, stuff like that. Sometimes we do that with an eye toward safety (to slow things down, or shift direction, or get us further from an obstacle or the grass), sometimes just because we feel like it. :)

For the Enduro, we've been using basically the same course for 5-6 years. I believe This was the first iteration of the "traditional" Enduro course from 2010. I don't have a map from 2009 (we may have skipped Enduro that year), and 2008 was very different. Note the timing cables drawn from the trailer to the start and finish! I was also doing a "wide" driving line back then to show the course without giving away "the driving line". (now, I just give you a driving line... that's not always optimal)

My retinas are forever burned... the 8bit color from 2010... Agghhhaaah.

J/k'ng, the enduro course is worthy! I'm just hoping for a non-repeat... need to not get lost and spin like last year.

Well here's an opportunity to redeem yourself!
Actually, we've reused a version of this enduro course for several years now, and the first ones had a different turnaround that I DNF'd more than I didn't. This one, and last one, are much easier to navigate for derps like me... practice, practice, practice.

I finally got around to revising the Endurocross 2016 Rules. That pretty much consisted of changing the date, fixing a typo or two, and adding the logo to the top of the page. :)

As of today, registration is open to current FAST members (those who competed in 5 or more events LAST season). Assuming our 75 members don't sell out the event (they never have before), you'll get your chance to register starting sometime this weekend.

Thanks for all the offers to co-drive! Sounds like I get the luxury of "shopping" for a co-drive, which is kinda cool. Anybody else wanna throw their keys into the hat? :D
Devon and I will be there for a double session - assuming the noise police doesn't shut us down.,y

Working from memory, I think the Porsche was loud, and then got quieter? And the last time I remember checking the Exocet, it was ridiculously loud... did you fix that? If not, then... maybe you should?

That said... I've been meaning to try to get a drive in that Exocet. Might give up a run in Soroya's car for that!

Guess I live in the old people world. I thought the DB noise level 95 was only for the Dog Track? (AND the poor bastard Starter with bleeding ears?)

Since this is a classic event but with split format, does that make a single 2 runs x4 laps and a double registration something insane like 4 x 4?

Let's put things into perspective. Is the Exocet, or the Porsche for the matter, louder than a twin prop plane taking off from the same airport? That's the essential question for this particular venue. I will acquiesce and adapt for other venues as required.

Nope...the essential question is whether it's possible to get a noise complaint about cars. How loud the aircraft are doesn't matter -- it's an airport, and neither the county, the National Guard, or the FAA will shut it down for a few complaints about noise. But a few complaints about cars, and the airport authority will drop us (and everyone else) like a hot rock. What the possibility of a complaint is, I have no idea. But never forget that at any site, we're not an essential part of the landscape...quite the opposite!
