Philip,

It takes a while to grind off the mold release compound.
Be prepared to "suck" beyond your wildest dreams.

Paste the "L" on your head.

Why we run "Classic events" is to make our tires stick and our brains work.

We second the vote to call Carl. He did a great job for us, and we can practically walk to his house. Well, ride a bike anyway.

Just a few more days to register. Get in while you can!

We've got 4 people taking advantage of the "buddy system". If that works out well, we may continue to use it for Classic events.

Hey all,

I was hoping to have Dave Scott sponsor me for this event and sent him a PM but haven't heard back from him yet...doesn't look like he's on here too often. So was hoping one of you would be willing to be a backup sponsor in case I don't hear back from him before Monday. This would be my third event, second at Brooksville.

I've got a good feel for things and don't think I'd need a lot of hand holding, other than a course walk and a ride along or two. I'm a 41 year old business owner, so you can be pretty confident I won't make an ass out of myself...or you :thumbwink: . I've met several of you, I drive the silver GTi. Met the Russells at my first event and got a ride in their S2000, and Brian Meyers rode with me. Then I rode with Brian at the last TBD event and Dave and Bill rode with me. So...please let me know if you'd be interested. Hoping to not have to wait three more weeks to drive again...I'm hooked!

Thanks,
Jim

We're down to just 3 driver slots open for this one.

Oh, and I didn't put it on the map, but we've decided to do a "kidney bean" practice element where we did our figure-8 last time. It will be available for you to play on when you're not driving or working.

Spy photo of Soraya's Brooksville Fit. Too bad she needs the back seat to make the car rotate or it would go too.

So how does this figure 8 and kidney bean thing work? I get that you can drive it on your non run/work group but there anything else special to know about it?

Grid/line up in a safe place, we usually put a wall of cones for you to stay behind. Pick up your own cones (better yet, don't hit any), one car at a time, don't do anything stupid. We try to make sure there's a more experienced person down there just to keep an eye on things. Doing multiple laps is fine as long as a bunch of people aren't waiting on you. Be safe, have fun, learn stuff.

I missed the sign up fml, closing a house and making sure I was signed up for the last open threw me off :(

Hope everyone has a great time out there. If there's any way I can enter as a guest at least and help out/ catch some rides/ cry for being dumb from the sidelines please let me know. Thanks

Sorry, Mark. If it wasn't Brooksville, it'd be no issue...but, once the attendance list is submitted, we can't vary from it.
At least the next event is only 2 weeks away ! 8-)

Talking of tires, I will be back on the same tires I was working so hard to kill at the last event :derp:
Hopefully they will hold up for one more classic. Just haven't had time to get the RE71s fitted yet.
I will get the new tires mounted before Tampa Bay Downs.
Slip sliding away!!

Old car syndrome has struck me again. Cooling fan relay has bit the dust. Can't find this thing anywhere. Hopefully a junkyard trip will be fruitful.
In the meantime, I'll have to appeal to the masses for this event (again  ) for a ride, or rides.

I'll be there anyway, even if to watch.

On the plus side, new radiator is in and had to replace the hard lines on top of the intake that go to the heater connectors after a hole in it sprayed more rusty orange water all over the motor. After changing all this yesterday I discovered the non functioning fan. Likely the rising temp. caused the blowout and not the loss of water causing the rising temp. as I had thought.
