Yep. "Race Tires" is a generic term. "Racing Slicks" and "DOT Approved Race Tires" are two different things. It's stupid, because Hoosier "DOT Autocross Radials" are every bit as grippy as any "Racing Slick"... but, that's how insurance companies draw their lines. And that's why that rule is worded specifically the way that it is.

I remember this one. This is where I came up to the box turn way too fast. (yes, you can achieve "way too fast" sometimes in the FASTiva) Dammit! Nailed the brakes, yanked it to the right, and thumped the entry cone on the left! I still managed a 51.9... plus 1.

I'm am glad I had a GoPro, It happened so fast I thought I had too much speed coming into that last turn before the finish and I was cautious of under steer the rest of my runs, but watching and listening to the video I made the turn just fine, I got on the gas too hard and lost the rears coming out of the turn. Good learning experience.

There are some construction differences, too. IIRC, a lot of slicks still use bias-ply construction because the carcass can be thinner -- that construction means the sidewalls don't roll over as easily as with radials. A little late to the party but I figured I'd post the GoPro footage of my best run in the Exocet on Saturday. Loren and Phillip did an outstanding job on their runs, both of them looked like they were really flying! Unfortunately I couldn't stay the whole day as the heat was atrocious in Brooksville that day. I was pretty happy with my best time but my gut tells me that there's time that I'm missing, possibly on the turnaround and on the spot that I ran out of gearing and some spots where my car's powerband just did not provide the pull necessary to exit the corner as quick as I would in a higher powered car. Overall feeling very happy with the setup and very excited to begin to know the car's handling characteristics more intimately as I get more experienced with the A7's. Thanks to all of the guys at Fast for giving us another awesome event!
