These things sometimes happen when you wait until the last day of registration to get registered!

We don't do a wait list. Here's what we do instead: We over-sell regular Open events by 8% and Classic events by 4%. Years of statistics have shown us that we typically get 8-10% no-shows at a regular event, and a lot less at a Classic event. So, we just plan on that. No wait list, just raise the entry limit with the expectation that there will be no-shows. So, that's where we are. We allow 108 entries at an Open event (when we really only want 100), and we allow 50 entries at a Classic (when we really only want 48).

BUT, here's what I've done. This being the FROC event, we had 20 entries allocated to that, and 30 entries allocated to the regular Classic. Since we only had 18 FROC entries, and we're okay with that... I shifted two of those 20 to regular entries. Now there are 32 regular entires.

Bottom line, there are 2 entries open RIGHT NOW. Get 'em before they're gone.

We were able to get him in, so it worked out.
We did wait until the last minute to make sure I would have a new power steering pump this week. Looks like everything is coming together though.

Don't get too complacent. Ben and I had a talk a week ago and when yall are done beating each other up this Saturday Ben and I will have a personal duel of my Vette against the Fastiva at a later event. You see just because some of us are in permanent wedlock and cannot afford "consequences" we can still come back and bite you in the ass via a car co-owner.

Go Ben!!

What NO trash talk? Wow. Missed opportunity girls.

That sounds just like an underpowered front wheel drive :bouncy: perfect preparation. (For the rest of us) :whip:

I get to find out first-hand just how awful Sumitomo HTR-Z II are to autocross on. I'm sure having a bunch of torque (that I can't do anything with) will be entertaining, though.

And Doug won't be there to give me tips on what tire pressure to run.

Hey Loren, still need an underpowered FWD vehicle to drive? I'll gladly give you my car for a few runs. Or anyone else for that matter ;)

Or maybe my brother's Tercel, hehehe

I kinda do want to beat on the truck a little... just so I can say I did. But, I might not want to take more than a couple runs in it. (unless it ends up being more fun than I expect) So, I might take you up on that!

Looking forward to enjoying the day with a classic ton-o-runs and watching the FROC competition. Looks like we are in for a nice day too. Now if I can just remember where I put the keys to the Nissan. :headscratch:

I'll be rarin' to go by then. BTW your wheels and tires are identical to wife's car. She let me race it once or twice @ Airport. 34F/30R worked pretty well for starters. Fronts can run up to 38-40 hot no biggie no roll over no chunking. They launch hard with an automatic. You will definitely need some weight in the rear, full tank, spare? Aqua Fiesta?

Cool. I've been running them 36-38ish on the street. I guess I'll just leave them alone. Odds are really good that I'd have ended up doing that, anyway. I have to baby the launch (too much torque), and the 2nd gear shift (not enough synchro). Once I'm rolling in 2nd... that's where all the fun starts. I think it will actually handle okay up to the point that understeer sets in. Biggest question is just how bad the steering ratio will be in a slalom!

Do you have enough torque to start in 2nd? Time lost slightly bogging down of the line would be offset by eliminating a shift. Will save you worrying about doing a burnout off the line.

Before I changed the diff ratio (from 3.73 to 3.08), I could have started in 2nd and had to shift to 3rd. Now 2nd gear has long legs... but 2nd gear starts aren't gonna happen without a lot of practice. It REALLY bogs. But, I can wring out 1st, and as long as I don't rush the 2nd gear shift, it's fine. Will I be able to do that in the heat of battle? Who knows? :dunno:

He can launch the frickin' NO TORQUE FASTIVA and beat me in a C5. I think he can deal with it  Your first comment when driving the Ford will be: "Damn...it spun a tire."
