FAST Classic - Jan 28
Geez, when was the last time we autocrossed at the Dog Track? I'll tell you when... November! We're due.
This is a Classic event, which means fewer entries, more runs and no formal novice instruction. We do require all entrants to have competed in at least 5 prior autocross events so that they sort of know what they're doing (or enlist an experienced sponsor). And don't forget that our exhaust sound restriction will be fully enforced. (if you think it might be loud, if anybody else thinks it's loud, it probably is... don't bring it here!)
We'll be providing lunch for all registered drivers and guests at this event.
We're still doing the Buddy System for less experienced competitors. We will allow less experienced autocrossers, even first-timers, if they have a qualified FAST regular sponsor them. As the experienced buddy, you can only sponsor ONE driver, and you are responsible for them throughout the day. You will be paired with them in the same run group (they don't have to drive your car, but they can) so that you can ride with them and they can ride with you. And you may be paired with them on a work assignment. We have no formal novice training at a Classic event, so the responsibility falls to you to do a good course walk with them and show them the ropes. We hope people will continue to have fun with that!
Registration is open until January 23, but all the cool kids register earlier.
Pre-registration is required for ALL drivers and guests.

Big Ron. You never got to drive Shamu. You will absolutely love driving Moby's Appendage. Woohoo. The White Whale is for real.BigBlue wrote:I may have to ask for a run in that. I grew up in big american iron.twistedwankel wrote:Maybe it's time for the Crown Vic to kick ass?

If you email the course map to everyone except Dan E then since Ron R doesn't walk the course they will be on a level playing field.

Basically the perfect dog track car has a 1st gear that goes to ~45 MPH so you never shift gears.

Well it looks like I won't have to worry about getting into 3rd gear then. It'll be two hands on the wheel, 2nd gear and a lot of go!
I'm finally swapping out my factory brake pads for some HAWK HPS's and replacing the rear sway bar with a 30% stiffer unit. I should be able to stab the breaks and rotate around the corners a little better to try to keep with you guys.

Lol me thinks so too! It's always fun trying to get used to a new rear sway bar. I remember my old Integra had a super stiff one and if you weren't careful, WATCH OUT!

Is anyone willing to let me be their “Buddy” for this classic event? My first autocross was the last Brooksville Open and I enjoyed it so much I would have a hard time waiting for another open event to attend.
I would be driving a stock 2015 V6 Camaro.

Can I submit some advice... stop messing with the car.. I know "new parts" are always cool.. but the learning curve just gets super steep always changing...Kdub085 wrote:Lol me thinks so too!
