ok then, folks, reg. is full.

At this site we can take walk-up registrations, and if this event is like any others, some folks who registered will not show up. So, just like SPC, if you want to try to get a spot, get there early, get on the first-come first-served list, and at 9 we'll open any no-show spots.

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit bummed.
By the nature of your "bummed" state, I would assume your tickets are for Sunday? If they are for the whole weekend, then go to St. Pete on Saturday! The ALMS is racing on Sat. (which I find more exciting than IRL anyway)... and you can catch IRL qualifying, IndyPro, etc. I'm going to watch Saturday, then have seat time on Sunday! Win-win, eh?

(so busy, I might have to skip st. pete anyway... bummed  )

Free tix from Marlboro are only good for Sunday. I would have to pay if I went on Saturday. However, I think that the grandstands are open on Sat. If thats the case, I may go then anyway.

I'll be at the SP Grand Prix hopefully on Saturday and Sunday. I'm very much looking forward to it. I don't know how somebody who autocrosses can NOT be a race fan?! Especially when it's the first year of the Champ Car / IRL unification!!!

It really sucks that I'm going to miss the new site in Lakeland, but I'll be there for sure next time. I'd like to hear about the surface and how it compares to St Pete and Zephyrhills. I assume it's blacktop, right? If so, this will be the perfect opportunity for somebody to beat Jeremy in class G! Go Steve and Dave!

I dunno, man, I'm having a hard time beating myself out of my own driveway so far this year...appreciate the vote of confidence, though!

Enjoy the GP - see you next month.

I went to the 12 hours two years ago, and decided that's just a little more racin' than I can take on a long, hot day! :) I think I'll keep watching that one and the Daytona 24 from my couch! I guess I have my limits, and I'm not that hardcore.

Who says I'm (we're all) not race fans? While you sit and watch cars zoom by for 3 seconds then watch them for a minute or so on a Jumbo screen TV before you see them again, I'll be sitting in my car driving my own race. Seems like a no-brainer to me. :D

From what I saw, quite a few people brought their own couches with them, and bolted them to the back of their jeeps and drove around Clampett style. It was quite a sight to see... Just some food for thought for next year ;) Also, if you drive a Mazda, Mazda of North America should be sponsoring another corral, and this year we were on Turn 1 where ALL the wrecks were going on, including the Mazda LMP car wihere it spun out, did a barrel roll in the air, and landed upright on the tire wall. It was amazing!!!

Hey, if Ron and Jeremy (Ron... Jeremy? Nevermind.) are doing safety, how come I'm the one reviewing the course design?

I don't mind. Just wondering.

I need to figure out where this site is someday.

Who's Ron Jeremy?

I had to ask.

You are reviewing the course design because we thought there were about 17 folks you were training to do Course Marshaling and we figured you needed the material. If you don't need it, let Ron Jeremy have at it...

directions to Joker Marchant stadium, courtesy of Event chair Scott:

Directions to Marchant Stadium:
from I-4 East bound:

take Exit 32 (us 98 ) in Lakeland - turn Right on 98 (south)

at the second Light .4 miles ( Road House Grill on left Long John Silvers on right) Turn Left.

Go .8 miles to the second light and turn right (South) on Lakeland Hills Blvd.

Travel .6 miles you will see a large Pontiac/GMC/Jeep/Honda/Acura Dealer on the left.

Immediately following the car dealership you will see a large entrance sign on the left for Joker Marchant Staduim, 2301 Lakeland Hills Blvd.

Follow the main entrance and there will be a designated parking area on the south side of the stadium.

yes yes the site is secured..... the toilet has been rented ( I think ) Lunch will prob be Pizza just to keep it simple at the new location and the final draft of the course map has been sent for approval and then I can Post it up here. It will be FUN for many reasons I think.

as a bit if Trivia they used to use this location in the 70's as an Autocross site. Or so I have been reciently informed.

There's some truth to that. I've got so many people in training that I don't remember who's in training.

ok here it is

Image

the yellow circles are the light poles and for simplicity and to aide in helping visualize scale to people eho may not know the site I used a photo from map quest I beleive. The spaces are 22'x11' and the isles are 25' wide. there is no curb on the west side and we will have to place some yellow caution tape (or something) to keep people from wandering in.

Other than that Hope everyone has a good time and likes the new location.

I'll check around the old lab we used for an autonomous vehicle project and see if we have those 4' cones sitting around still. I think we had 12. We can use those to block off the area, if they haven't been confiscated yet.
