December 30 - FAST Classic @ Brooksville
We did an event on New Year's Day last year, and it was a blast! This year, New Year's Day is on a Tuesday, so we're squeaking in the last event of 2017 on New Year's Eve -- Eve.
This is a Classic event, which means fewer entries, more runs and no formal novice instruction. We do require all entrants to have competed in at least 5 prior autocross events so that they sort of know what they're doing (or enlist an experienced sponsor).
We'll be providing lunch for all registered drivers and guests at this event.
Registration is open until December 26. You know what to do.
This event is at Brooksville, so pre-registration is required for ALL drivers and guests.

I thought that looked odd when he registered, but didn't have time to look it up.jev61 wrote:I know Mr Cassidy wants a sticker, but M3 with a 2016 M3? Have mercy.

Here's the course map! This one is intentionally short in anticipation of it being lightly attended. Only 4 worker stations, minimal cones. If we don't have a lot of people, no problem. We'll get a BUNCH of runs without having to work too hard. Even if the event sells out, that's only 48 people. We'll still get a BUNCH of runs, and work even less hard!

It doesn't look good for the Bluesight. Disassembly is in process, but not without roadblocks. And parts haven't been ordered yet...need to know what to get first. I put myself down for the 30th, but no ride and no ride (for the race, and from Sarasota). Anybody coming up from this area? And anybody open for a co-drive with someone that might snap your wheels off? Else, see folks in the new year!...

BTW, entry stands at 33 of 48 with 6 days left to register.
Buuuut... somebody just mentioned it on the Facebook Autocross Buddies group that it is the only remaining autocross in the state for the rest of the year. That might spur some people to register. Be sure you're in there if you intend to be!

The current map is short and with the crossover where it is probably only 1 car on course for much of the run. If it fills up can we change the map?Loren wrote:BTW, entry stands at 33 of 48 with 6 days left to register.

It's intended to be a 1-car course. It'll work.
Throughput is all about start interval. This course will have a sub-30-second start interval, and that's our typical goal.

Thats good to hear, I hate having to do run after run with no down time with not being able to get out of my car to check the tires, or time, or just getting the old mind straightLoren wrote:It's intended to be a 1-car course. It'll work.

If you have 1 car on a 25 second course or 2 cars on a 50 second course you will still cycle thru at the same interval. The big difference between a 25 second course and a 50 second course is the number of worker stations. If we only get the 36 people that are registered now then workers are few, if the event goes to 60 entrants then we should have plenty of workers for 6 stations.Solar wrote:Thats good to hear, I hate having to do run after run with no down time with not being able to get out of my car to check the tires, or time, or just getting the old mind straightLoren wrote:It's intended to be a 1-car course. The event is limited to 48 entries, like every other Classic.
The theme for this event is "easy". It might not be a long course, but we'll get lots of runs and it will be easy for everyone involved.
The next event in January will have a long course. And the one after that is Endurocross.
