Hi Everyone. After spending the last few years off roading in Jeeps with my son, I started getting the itch for something faster. He is off to college so the empty spot in the garage is filled with a Solstice GXP.

I haven't autox'd in many years but am looking to jump back in! The last time was in the early 80's in a DSP 240Z. USF Engineering College parking lot. Do they still let events take place there? There used to be a motorcycle track up in Dade City that was a blast too.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting involved again, meeting & learning from you folks. Scott

Hey everyone!

I have been looking to get started in the autocross arena, or atleast find a group of auto enthusiast since I've moved down to Florida.

Yesterday I was down in Tampa and saw an Rx-7 with a FAST sticker on the front fender in a walmart parking lot then came home to a cut out of the article that was in the St Pete Times on the 22nd... I guess it was a sign for me....
Anyway I'm here and ready to roll, but disappointed about registration being closed for the upcoming February event, I'll just keep checking for openings... :)

Don't limit yourself to St Pete, Brooksville can be a lot more fun IMO :P

Well I hope to make it to as many events as possible, but I have to wait until I get rid of my 17s and pick up some new 15'' Konigs with fresh Nitto NeoGens. My tires are in no shape to autocross right now 8)

You'd be surprised how much you could learn on crappy tires! As long as you don't mind getting beat (some fast guys in "E"!), you'll have fun. I'm certainly not encouraging you to be unsafe, but I've hit the wear bars on my tires several (and I use this term conservatively  ) autocrosses ago.

I dunno, would you autocross on these tires?

My Left Rear which was on backwards when I got the car(hence the outer camber wear)

Look like "competition depth" to me!

Seriously... just keep an eye on them for cord showing. Once they reach that point, they're done. That one front one looks iffy, but as long as you're rollin' on rubber...

The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

Front one is iffy, the other is fine. Brooksville (on the S2000 anyways) seems to be fine for tire wear, as in I don't use much tire there. Probably because most of the course is a little more open than the tighter courses.

Maybe rotate the front to the rear, and don't overdrive the car.

I'd love to make it out to brooksville, but I'll be working a job in lakeland from that friday till the end of the month which will finance the new rims and tires. Plus, registration is full isn't it?

Hello!

First post to FAST.

I just transferred into Florida and looking to get an autocross fix. Haven't had the opportunity for almost 4 years!

I try to 'pilot' a 1996 Corvette (the old style) to the best of my ability...which usually means one spin each event! Ha.

I'm fortunate to get a spot for this coming week's event at 'Brooksville.' Hope to see you there...

If you never spin you aren't trying hard enough (I was once told).

Glad to have you!
