Wait, what ? Is this the same Dave that had a white S2000 that looked tattered and beat only because he never washed it, and is now commenting that a old rotting fence needs to be cleaned ? :headscratch: :snicker:
LOL I pressure wash the driveway, sidewalk and fence.. but still don't wash any of my cars!

Got all the exterior reassembled, what a day. I’m blown away by how well it came out, even the rear emblems look great. Still have a bunch of cleaning and reinstalling the interior, fender liners, cleaning the jams and installing the rest of the weather stripping. I think I’m just going to just keep looking at it until next weekend.

My 240sx Is Finally Going To The Beauty Parlor

Thanks for all the love guys :thumbwink: . Probably the last photo for a month or so until I can wax and detail it, and mount my wheels. Finally got confirmation from Japan that both the bumper extensions I ordered 4 weeks ago have finally shipped, might be another 2 weeks until I get them, then they will have to be painted. So, I can’t install the fender liners until they’re all done, which means I can’t/shouldn’t drive it much until it’s all back together. Oh well, I’m still really enjoying just looking at it for now

Anytime I buy a used car, I sit and think about how it was once somebody's brand new car. Somebody's baby.

I'm pretty sure you love this car more than the person who originally bought it. :)

Looks great, man! :thumbwink:

Thanks Loren :) , and you're right, I'm sure I've put more time and hard love into this car than any previous owner. When I bought this car, I thought I would race it and beat on it for a few years, then dump it. Over the years the car just grew on me, seemed the more I wrenched on it, the car just responded positively, and I kind of bonded with it. :lust:

Tim: I'm already scouting photo shoot locations :-D I honestly never thought it would look this good, sometimes when I see it I just laugh and shake my head :snicker:

Got a pretty long Punch List to finish it yet. This weekend I'm going to clean up the door jams, clean and install the interior and trunk bits. One step at a time...

My bumper extensions finally arrived, I was a bit nervous though when I saw the first part number was a letter "F" instead of a "6" and the last number on the box was a "1" instead of a "0", thankfully they're the correct part and fit perfectly. I think I got the last OEM NOS that were available in Japan, because when I went back on the site to check my order, they're now showing discontinued. :o Went and bought some beer for my body guy, so when I bring these in to be painted, instead of sitting on his desk for a couple weeks, he might be in a better mood to get these painted in a timely manner.

My 240sx Is Finally Going To The Beauty Parlor

Spent most of my Sunday cleaning the interior and putting it all back together, got the door and trunk lid jams cleaned used cleaner wax on them to clean off the wet sanding and compound residue, they came out really nice. The trunk got new rubber shut bumpers and weather stripping, spent a lot of time cleaning the carpet and trunk and even cleaned the spare tire and put air in it. I got all the spare tire tools but for the life of me I cannot figure out how the jack holder mounts to the trunk, it’s like a Chinese puzzle. Still have a bunch of reveal trim to install but that’s going to have to wait until next weekend.

I decided to remove the B-pillar garnish covers and have them painted too. I knew once the car was painted, all the overlooked trim pieces would stand out.

Just when I was finishing up today, a storm was rolled in so I parked the 240 out in the driveway for a natural rain rinse. Good hour or so of steady rain, pretty cool it sheds water like it does with no wax.

Image

After the rain, I dried it of really well and I can definitely see a improvement.

Got the last pieces painted and back from the body shop, its very nice having a shop that will work with you, they just charged me a case of beer to paint these remaining pieces, the b-pillars came out great, very glad I decided to have them done.

Thanks Tim, it’s slowly coming together. As I’m sure you’re very aware of when you restored your Nova, a few unexpected things pop up.

I was cleaning up the engine bay and since I had all the cowl trim removed I decided to clean up the wiper linkage well. Glad I did, as soon as I put my hand in there with a rag to wipe it out, I heard a “clunk” :headscratch: . Turned out the wiper linkage bushings were trashed, and after inspecting it more, the wiper pivot mounts were shot as well. No wonder my wipers chattered. So another $150 later and I got all new linkage and pivots, so on to next weekend !
