I don't know. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that FAST is done. Not seeing any motivation anywhere to make me think otherwise. :dunno:

FAST - A New Hope

Postby twistedwankel » Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:57 pm

I hear ya. I've been stuck inside for over 3 years now. Cars and tires and even helmet and magnets are gone now. Still have my old racing shoes.
I know what happened. All the under 40 people went and bought upgrades for their Computer Games and WiFi speed to 5g. They now sit in their den or garage or toilet area and race against the computer or other online game junkies. The ones with some money have upgrade their race seats with full 3 screen wraparound pedals and vibrators to shake their butts.

I get it. Only $1500 to race on any course in the world in any car they choose for free year round in AC. No course work. Slurpy at hand.

It doesn't bother them that they can't beat you or I in a real car. We have become irrelevant. With their slurpys at hand they have become the elephant in the room.

I see them. Will never be them. I hope. :binky:

My wife has advanced Alzheimer's and gets lost in our house but otherwise is still fun to be with.

It is so cool that you and Steve still train people to drive in the real world.❤ I'm sure you can both still "school" me in my own cars as always. The only thing I miss is people like you both on a twice monthly basis and the competition.

Some day when I win that evasive lottery or hit the cryptocoin lotto there will be an awesome autocross slab to make SCCA cry. Must be 40+ to enter or bring their kid.

Thanks for what you both created. It will live on in videos.

Sorry to hear about the wife, Doug. Went through it with my mother in law. You probably are well aware that it doesn't get any easier.

Not to fret Drew. Perfect relationship for me. I am a terminal smartass and The Men in Black show up every 10min and erase her brain. So she forgets she's mad at me.👍 Bliss.

Yeah, Steve and I are definitely still getting our "teach" on with the driving school.

Maria is such a fun woman! I'm glad she has you to take care of her.

As for the rest of the former FASTies, a lot of them (like you and I) have dropped out of motorsports, at least for now. Others are still doing autocross and track events throughout the state. Also seeing some get into off-road dirt stuff. Everybody's still finding ways to have fun!

We need to do some trash talk.
You think you and Steve could deal with a stock Rx8 with a cheater flywheel? On 500 AS TIRES?

I'll call you out so long as Maria can ride with me😁

Drag race to start which means we have to wear dresses.😂

All my best to you and the Mrs., Doug.

As for the RX8 "drag race," will there be money under the wiper blade? :D

Who wouldn't die to see Uncle Steve and Uncle Loren go toe to toe in a fucking Porsche? Owned by the Mayor of Dougopolous. And owner of The Last Resort.

Doug bought a Porsche? That seems wrong somehow.

Steve and I both haven't autocrossed since February 2020. It would be an interesting battle, but we'd both suck.

Maybe you need a driving team? I plan to be down for the Snowbird season again (Dec through Mar), but probably without an AX vehicle (Insight is sold and Miata will likely stay in WI). Situation dictates a hope to find codrives for a more limited number of AX events vs like 18 last season. GCAC in Ft. Myers may be covered. Not sure yet on CFR at Lakeland or MSCC at OCCC. But the PCA clubs (Suncoast, Gold Coast, Everglades, Citrus) have events scattered around (Sebring, OCCC, Venice and St Pete - with Tavares on the distant edge). It would be nice to find a Porsche co-drive for the Porsche club events, so that is my current search. If you end up wanting to build a team...please keep me in mind...

The last time I drove a Porsche (Gene's Cayman) was at Lakeland. I think I cracked the top 10 with it, IIRC. I likes me some Porsche. :lust:
