C'mon, y'all - if Loren's right, it's wrong. Even though the format is different, it's all just for fun. You're still gonna get a minimum of 4-5 runs, just like a regular event, the world-famous FAST lunch, and the excellent company of the usual suspects. Sure, we'll be keeping score, but we do that at all our events - no difference!

The deadline for registration is officially TOMORROW, but I'm going to extend that to Monday. Register this weekend, or forever hold your peace!

So far, only 32 have registered... a figure which really surprises me. This event is usually a LOT more popular than that. Are you guys afraid of a little competition, or what?

Requests are being accepted for non-members who would like to be invited to compete. Minimum experience of three autocrosses is required.

So I can invite some of the other-coast S2K guys? They have plenty of autocross experience...

Man, I really hate to do that. Nothing against those guys, but here's my problem... we're setting up a competition for OUR regular folks. S2000's in particular are one of those cars that are more than capable of dominating either Class F or Class E. As much as I'd like to see more competition at this event, I'd rather not force more of our regulars to be backmarkers by allowing a lot of new people in.

The people I'd like to extend an invitation to are people like Vertigyn, who have attended some of our events, know about this event, and REALLY want to attend.

How many "outsider" S2000 guys can you round up? Enough to set them up in a separate class so that it doesn't affect the "members"?

A few, who plan on attending events of ours on a more frequent basis when they don't conflict with SCCA schedules.

I think only one, maybe two have registered, and both have done a FAST event, and one of them also did the school.

I'd expect maybe 2 guys. (Willie Gee and speedworks both who are on this forum I believe, I know Willie Gee is, he's posted in this thread, or the other battle-x thread.)

Looking at the registrations, only one has signed up. The rest I've seen at FAST events before. There is a novice S2000 driver registered, and I know who that is, and they've been at FAST events before, but I'm not sure if they qualify due to the Novice thing, I honestly have no idea how many autocrosses he's done.

There's another novice S2000 guy, which I think has been there for awhile, no idea who that is (by name anyways). A corvette driver that's a novice too, no idea who that is either.

If you need to, remove me from the normal class, I'll run against them, I don't care if I can't run anymore after the double elim. I won't be running for points this year even if this event did count towards them.

Not real happy to see the registration link on the S2000 forum. If I wanted it published, I'd have published it.

So far there are at least four registered who were not invited. Not invited means that I don't know anything about them. Not knowing anything about them, I don't know how to seed them.

Sorry. I will de-invite them if you want. It's your event. I'll go delete the post now. I thought non-members meant just that, non-members, I didn't realize it meant selected non-members until after I saw your reply.

I did jump the gun by not waiting for your reply, I'm sorry for that.

Link is gone from the S2000 forum, and I posted for them to stop registering and that money would be refunded if you don't want them.

Who are the four in question? Bill Gallagher has been to at least one FAST event before, Brian Bode has (although I don't think I know him - and I think I saw the name because of the N flag before I posted the link on the s2k forum, I thought I rememebr seeing some novice flag and wondering why they were there) and Michael Hall has also been to FAST events beefore.

Bill attends alot of SCCA events and was at our lakeland event. He is very experienced and i thought Brian has attended more then 3 events. I know he was at the last 2. Hope this helps. Bill was top in points at Scca in his class this year

Thanks for deleting the link. This late in the game, it's probably not a big deal, but if that link had gotten out earlier, it would have spread to other forums and other people... you know how information spreads these days. I wanted to keep that from happening, that's why the link was "private".

I'm not going to boot the people in question or "punish" them in any way if I can avoid it. It's not their fault that they were allowed to register.

The four that I spotted that were not on my list were:

I haven't scoured old results for any of these names to see what I can learn about them. If they've attended a couple FAST events in recent history, I'll be able to seed them from that. But, if in doubt, they'll get seeded high.

I would not have posted it earlier, I misunderstood your non-members post, that was the only reason it was ever posted. It's not like it was really hard to find the registration page though.

Bill should be seeded where you'd seed Jeremy or myself (if I were driving an S2000). The last time I autocrossed with Bill in an S2000 our times were pretty close (he was faster). Michael Hall has done FAST in the past, but I'm not sure how long ago it was. The other two are Corvette drivers and are highly unlikely to have found the link on S2KI, and both are local so the other two you mentioned would not have told them about it I wouldn't think. I'm assuming they heard about FAST somewhere else and checked MAE or someone else told them to register, I have no idea who they are.

I'd be more upset if we had members that weren't getting registered due to non-members registering, but that's not the case... for some strange reason.

Mike, I remember riding with you and I think you'll do fine, no problem there. I need to clarify, though. If you're talking about registering your Fit as an additional car... with a completely novice additional driver... that's not gonna work. If you're talking about registering the Fit as YOUR vehicle in place of the S2000, that's no problem at all. All you have to do is go out to MAE and change your vehicle (and your class). (if you don't get that done before registration is locked down, just email me and I'll fix it)

And I think it would be great if you did that... for purely selfish reasons. It would bring class F down from 5 to 4 cars for a tidy 4-car bracket instead of a sloppy modified 8-car bracket with a bunch of bye runs, and it would bring class J up to 4 cars, giving it more competition and a full 4-car bracket.

I was thinking of doing so as an additional vehicle, with me as the driver as well.

I'd prefer to keep the s2000 as my main vehicle, purely because that's the car I'm going to be spending the time racing in.

I can always wait and register the fit with the S next month at Brooksville.

Oh, no. Can't do that. Only one entry per driver in this event.

You'll have to talk to Steve or Jamie about double-registering at a Brooksville event. I don't remember if they allow that or not as it would be difficult for you to fulfill a dual work assignment if you ran twice.

However, you're welcome to register for a regular event in your S2000 and take some of your runs in your Fit. Nobody would complain about that, just be sure that you have the proper numbers on the car when you take your runs.

Wrt entering twice, the logistics are impossible for the normal 3 run group event.

I verified that...couldn't see it when signed into MAE as me (versus signed in as the FAST registrar -- different accounts).

I always just do a search on the word FAST when I want to sign up for events, and it shows when you do that.
