It would be better to please make a new account for her. Keeps entries straight, and not-that-I-would-ever-wish-for-this-but if there was any kind of insurance issue, we'd want to have proper records for the folks that have entered the event. Thanks for checking.

oh, and the KamiSpeed dudes - I can't wait to meet you guys!

^^ cool. :) My 6 year old asked me tonight, out of the blue, how long it was before she go could in the car at a "race." When I told her 10 years, she didn't seem to bothered, and wondered, "what about after my birthday?" I hope in 10 years she's still interested.

Thanks, but at this point it's more than covered. I'd like to keep you on "backup" for in case someone else isn't able to make it, though.

Somebody remind me... do I need to bring the timer laptop with me, or are we just going to do a manual sort of time reporting for the school.

The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

To all students:
Congratulations on signing up for the FAST Novice Autocross school! You're in for a great time, learning the basics of precision car handling and the great sport of autocross.

It's gonna be a full day, starting off with registration, introductory lecture and drivers' meeting, then off to the course to take a couple of baseline timed runs. Then we'll break into groups, and practice several individual autocross driving elements, along with continued lecture. The world-famous FAST lunch is included. Once instruction and practice are done, we'll finish the day with a few more timed runs, so you'll be able to guage just how much your skills have improved!

St. Petersburg College is located at 3500 32nd St. S., St Petersburg, FL 33712

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&g" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... iwloc=addr

From I-275, take the exit for 22nd Ave. SOUTH, head west to 34th St, then a left (South) to SPC. The lot is in back. You'll want to park in the lot with the PVC gate, then walk over to the driving pad. Please plan to be there promptly at 7 am. The day is packed, and we'll be working on a fairly tight schedule - it'll be important to get there on time!

If for some reason you will not be able to attend, please let us know so we can adjust driving groups accordingly.

Later in the week, I'll send another email with a little more information. Feel free to email me with any questions. We're really looking forward to this and hope you are too!

Is there any issue with me not using the car that is set up in my profile for the novice school? I don't know if my 240 will be ready in time...so, i was thinking of bringing my 350z.

This message is intended for those who have actually registered for the FAST Novice Autocross school on Jan 10th, 2009. If you are only monitoring this event through MyAutoEvents, please disregard.

For those who have registered,
We wanted to get a little more information to you, and direct you to a little paperwork.

First off, the correct address for St. Petersburg College Allstate Campus is 3200 34th St. South. In our prior notice, the street number was wrong. Mapping websites will still bring you to the same place, though, so not to worry. Again, please plan to be there promptly at 7 am. Drive around back and park your car in the lot with the PVC gates, then walk over to the picnic table area by the driving pad.

You'll want to have your car prepared ahead of time, and the following link will give you some ideas: http://wedrivefast.com/NoviceTips/Novic" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... fault.aspx

It will be helpful to fill out two forms in advance, as well. Per our arrangement with SPC, any events held on the driving pad are considered SPC Driver Improvement courses. As such, you must "register" for the course with SPC. They also have their own liability waiver. You can find both forms at the bottom of this page:
http://wedrivefast.com/AboutOurEvents/F" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... fault.aspx
As per the directions on the page, PLEASE PRINT THEM BACK TO BACK ON ONE PAGE. Fill out the registration form completely (either SS# OR birthday are needed on the registration form), and fill out the liability form completely. In the spots for "date" use the event date if not already filled in. Sign both of them. Bring them with you to the Registration table at the event.

If for some reason you cannot complete the forms ahead of time, they will be available on-site, but it will slow down the sign-in process.

You MUST have a valid drivers' license with you. Without it we will not be able to allow you to participate.

Guests/spectators are welcome. There is a $5 charge if they will be sharing our lunch. They'll want to bring something to sit on, and shade, as the picnic table area will be used during the school. Please let us know if you will be bringing someone with you.

If you have any questions I haven't addressed, please feel free to email me or post on the forum thread for the school:
http://www.kickflop.net/autocrossbb/viewtopic.php?t=456" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

See you Saturday!

By the way - I did not mention that helmets are required - must be DOT approved. If you don't have your own, we have loaners, but those using them will have to share.

Forms question

Postby DeltaNu1142 » Thu Jan 08, 2009 12:50 pm

On the SPC registration form, there's a section for "payment information." I've already paid with PayPal, as has most everyone else, I think. No additional payment is required, right?

Only the gratuities you give your instructors for doing such a fine job.
