Kenny,
I sprung an exhaust leak at Sunday's event that made the car sound like our Suby's used to

Removing that stuff is NOT a fun affair on a SR so I'm crossing my fingers the other nuts are as loose as the few I checked and that closes up the leak.
Got a chance to take a closer look at the car today.....

On my SR I have 8 nuts to secure the exhaust manifold to the head.

1 - Totally missing and stud appears to have been snapped off many years ago, it's too short to put a nut on.

1 - Barely finger tight

6 - Wimpy tight but I at least needed a wrench to get them tighter

Combination of 3 bolts and 2 nuts to secure the downpipe to the turbo:

2 - nuts MIA
2 - bolts MIA
1 - bolt I removed by hand that was finger tight.... thats all that was left holding it on. That and my downpipe has a brace that attaches to the side of the tranny.

4 nuts to secure turbo to manifold:
2 - Fronts are both barely finger tight
2 - Rears are both MIA

I guess it's a good thing I decided to skip my afternoon runs last Sunday and drive the car home :)

Apparently 3-4yrs of drifting followed by 3-4yrs of grip driving loosens things up :o

Hopefully my trip to the hardware store will be enough to get me through next weekend, afterwords I think it's time for the whole manifold/turbo assembly to come off the car.......

More likely "stuff that was never properly tightened comes loose over time".
Loren Williams - Loren @ Invisiblesun.org
The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

That could be too.

For whatever reason its common on the SR's for the turbo to come loose from the manifold regardless of what you do, too much weight(turbo) held up by 4 small nuts maybe? Some guys actually add a tiny spot weld between each stud and nut before they put the assembly on the car

The rest of the stuff coming loose, you are probably right.

Never too late...and we now have a whole forum for course reviews, with the goal of improving course designs. I'm moving this and Jeremy's comments to a new topic there.
