I hated that back corner on both days, too! But, that's all part of the game. "If autocross were any easier, they'd call it road racing."

RESULTS
Thank you, Kenny.
Thanks, Jeremy. Actually, several people both yesterday and today complimented the club as a whole - the organization and flow of the events, the people, the food, the course - the props are all very much appreciated, and are passed on to everyone!
Carl did a great job as Chair - can't wait for him to volunteer again real soon, so everyone can learn from his example. Having the course mostly set up ahead of time really helped get an early start today - maybe next time more people can show up early to help set up so we can start earlier and do more driving - 'cause y'all liked all those runs today, didn'tcha??
Speaking of driving, thanks again to Ron, Loren and Tod for the pointers.
We need an event chair for April.

Loren already explained it that thread - "no chair, no event."

Missed you dude, I needed a yardstick for my suckynessaparke wrote:Great job, Carl! Today was a blast. Tons of runs and great food. I liked the fact that it seemed different than a lot of other autocrosses--shorter course with more runs. Variety is nice.A longer course at SPC can significantly increase the time before the second car is sent out. The shorter course was designed such that the cars were flowing through pretty rapidly; it also lessens the gap between the experts and novices...(which I suppose, puts me somewhere in between

I hated Sunday's course, and there were way to many runs, maybe next time we can just do 6 or 7 ?
Sunday was another great day, and props to Carl again for putting on a great event!! I really loved the way the course was flowing Sunday, as soon as you finshed and got out of your car, you had to get ready to go out again! I started fading at the end, for some reason my last 4 to 5 runs got progressively worse. Some people suggested that maybe my tires were starting to fade, but I think it was the driver starting to fade.
I believe that the difference in time between 2nd and 3rd place in "J" class has to be the closest ever for FAST.

Great Event, Good Job Carl.. Jeremy discussed a dual event day and I beleive it's not only possible but an awesome Idea. While not an Issue for myself I think it's imperative we add capability for those that still want to go to church the ability to run during sunday's events. late/early registration, off group running, enough were it can't be taken advantage of especially.. I felt bad Bill showed up to pull the trailer.. (that's enough of a worker assignment in itself) but could not run. for the last 2 points events.. Glad to hear he had a blast at the endurocross, but still.. I think with the numbers starting to thin a bit we can afford to make some accommodations for people who have Sunday morning commitments.

Let Willemina take the SUV through the course. You'd be amazed at what she can make that thing do! I remember the night she tested the Funkhana course with it. :shock:Jeremy wrote:How about we stop testing courses with a Yaris and start using Howard's pickup truck? That should tell you what the problems were today.

Jeff, I don't think we have much to gain as a club by going to a split event format. Those who have commitments on Sunday can take advantage of our Saturday events (just like those who work Saturdays wait patiently for our Sunday events).
I've run events the way you're talking about, it's the way we ran our events when I was in Wichita. We left registration open until 1pm to accomodate the church crowd and "late sleepers". It worked okay, our events were very casual, and nobody ever expected more than 4 runs back then, anyway. But, it did have some drawbacks.
If you have to start and run half of the event before you KNOW how many people you're going to have in the afternoon, deciding on number of runs and organizing work groups becomes a real hassle. Often you will end up relying on volunteers to work the later run groups due to light registration for the afternoon, or you'll commit to 5 or 6 runs in the morning only to find out that you are over-subscribed for the afternoon and end up having to stay until 5:30pm to finish up. (which sucks for the organizers who were there at 7am)
I've said it before: Our system ain't broken. Let's not fix it.

What a great weekend! Congrats to Carl and his team!
I'm too new to this to know what to critique, and I don't always understand the people who bitch on this forum. I guess if I do this for a few years, I'll be bitching too!? But for now, I think Fast is a great club, and I have enjoyed every events so far. As Loren says, don't try to fix something that has been working fine!
A special thank you for Mary and Scott for posting videos!
And I also really appreciated you let me run in the afternoon, so my family and friends (who were told Saturday I would be running in the afternoon) could see me run. I think my friend was "hooked" and will be at the next event in his 928.
A little anecdote, I think I had my best time when my friend's wife was on board, and she screamed the ENTIRE run! I expected that from my wife, but she waited for the finish line to scream... ( when reading this, my wife told me she held her breath and closed her eyes for most of the run...)
Can't wait to do it again, even if "she(s) are" not coming...
