Exactly. If for you, or anyone, the competition is that impoertant, then FAST is probably not going to be satisfactory, as far as said competition goes.

I don't even know how much power that car makes.

Never been tested, ~ 250hp so the power:weight should be pretty close to a Sti with a tune/bolt-ons. Still running stock SR injectors and MAF.

Stock SR power is 205hp

Yikes you only have 12 more HP than the Grey8 and you still beat me by 4 seconds with turbo lag. Guess I need springs, some torque and a new front bar - just for starters:)

All I can say is my opinions were based on how I interpreted the rules on the website. Others may interpret differently. Maybe I'm just a weird individual who cross wires things in my head.

Hopefully there is a good takeaway for someone in this conversation.

Now that we've lost SPC, it's going to be tough to run down Jeremy in M1 in that 240sx (which in my honest opinion is a M0 car...it's a motor swap, not a power adder). Tim and I definitely have an advantage on the slicker surfaces at SPC / TBD. But less weight & more tire should always prevail at Brooksville. AWD is not that big of an advantage at Brooksville because the surface is grippy enough to negate most of the AWD advantage.

I don't think it's the car anyway, it's the driver and course combination. In previous events you've beaten Tim and Chris. I think that you just had an off day on this particular course. Same went for me. Two weeks ago I came in just above mid pack in a mazda6, but this event I was in the bottom 20 because I drove like crap. I don't really think Jeremy's car is that much faster than yours in a straight line, in fact I think it's negligible, same for the handling. Jeremy and Charles aren't running that crazy of a suspension setup either. You need to remember that Jeremy is a badass, Chris is a badass, and Charles is nipping at baddassdom (j/k charles is a badass to) and like Loren said, "Jeremy and Charles have been driving the same car for 4-5 years". They simply got the course right and you didn't (just like I didn't). I have seen you switch cars and become a much better driver over the past couple of seasons. I even asked you what you did to get so darn fast because I need to do whatever you did. I just think it's a case of you not getting critical parts of the course down on this particular day and not being nearly as familiar and dialed in with your car as they are. Give it a few more goes at B-ville on different courses and I think you'll see that the cars are insanely competitive with each other and the winner will be determined by who had the best clean run in which they perfectly drove the key areas of the course. You're a good driver going against a whole bunch of other good drivers with more experience than you. The cars are classed appropriately, don't make the mistake of assuming that if you lose it's because of car classification. Be humble, relax, let the crap out of your head and drive your ass off in October and I think you'll see just how close you, Jeremy, Charles, and Chris really are.

Chris, I'm not blaming the Charles' car for me not winning. I'm not trying to be a sore loser. Like I said, Jeremy drove fast enough to beat everyone and I already claimed that both Charles and Jeremy are top class drivers. I've seen Jeremy FTD in cars that really aren't setup to. Also, I mentioned that Tim beat the pants off me...in another subaru. I know I didn't get it right last week. I have some good success in the car since it has been setup, but the doesn't drive itself.

How this conversation went about was my inquiry as to how the car was classed. I was not privy to a conversation that happened 5 years ago between Charles, Loren, and whomever about classing a swapped 240. It's not everyday you see a swapped 240 auto-crossing. We all know the majority of them end up as drift missiles. Now we've gone through about how the car(s) gets classed and rather detailed discussion about FAST's mod rules. Please don't come into a conversation and point the finger at me saying I'm a bad loser.

Also, while you've been away from the auto-cross scene for a while, I've been getting a lot of seat time. That's how I got better: Lot's of seat time and bench marking really good drivers like Loren, Chris, Drew, and others. Loren and I had some good battles in S2 last year.

That's how it is coming off in THIS particular thread. Right from your first post on page 4 where you said Charles car should be an M0 car you were saying the CAR was to fast to be run in M2 or run in M1. After Loren posted, very clearly in the second to last post on page 4, the classing in FAST you proceeded to go back and forth SEVEN times insisting the CAR was to fast to be in M2 or M1. To the outside person (me) reading this it comes across in THIS instance that you're complaining about the car and coming off as a sore loser.

That is NOT what I was doing. That is the problem with the internet and forums. The emotion behind the post can be interpreted in different ways. The majority of my previous post I am encouraging you and specifically trying to get you to realize that I am not singling you out by including myself in certain sentences. It was meant to come across as encouragement like a friend. However, you laser focused on the first sentence, second to last sentence, and first two words of the last sentence and interpreted them as me pointing the finger at you AS A PERSON. I was not. I was pointing the finger at your response and how it comes across in THIS PARTICULAR THREAD. The first part of the first sentence and the first part of the second to last sentence were meant to address how you're coming across in the page long back and forth about car classification in THIS thread. The "be humble" in the last sentence also referred to how you are coming across in THIS thread, not how I think of you AS A PERSON. I think you are awesome, intelligent, polite, humble, and a very good driver. I know that you are humble and not a sore loser as a person because I have seen you compete throughout the years at FAST. I was there when you ran your camaro, BMW, and subie and had a lot of races where you almost came in the top three in class or almost won your class. You have always been very positive and humble in those instances.

I hope I cleared up any misinterpretation of my previous post. I look forward to seeing you and everyone else in October.

Worrying about rules is way overrated. Trying to build a car to go as fast as possible within a specific rule set is overrated also. I could easily give my car a little more tire, brakes, power, and an autocross specific suspension and have one of the fastest cars at most every fast event. Because fast is a group of cool people just looking to have good time while the competition spirit is alive for smack smack talking banter only/mostly, I fail to see a reason to try and have the fastest car possible. My car is actually fairly slow at an autocross and it doesn't matter at all. Just ask anyone who has ever ridden along in it or ask Ben how much fun it is to drive.

Driving faster is funner than driving slow. Your car doesn't have to be the fastest car to be the funnest car to drive however.

Telling people how they should have fun is overrated also. I campaigned a janky miata for a year. It was fun for the time, but I wouldn't go back in that direction.

It's a learning experience. I think a lot of people go through the same thing.
