Typical B'ville pizza order:

Mykonos - a little more than 3:1 - like 22-23 pies for 75 people
Papa Johns - about 3:1 - 25-26 pies per 75

If there's any question, get more as opposed to less - don't wanna run out, and usually someone will take leftovers, so it doesn't necessarily get wasted.

Whoever is placing this order, don't forget Mykonos needs a call by the Thursday before the event to fill an order this large.

Should I assume that the order will need to be placed? I read something about gyros or subs, so I'll hold off telling Steve W. to place the order until we/I know for sure.

We have 60 drivers and 19 guests -- 79 people. I need to know tonight if there if there are four people who aren't too excited about coming...I know this limit's a PIA, but the price of submitting more than 75 people to airport security is paying for a guard to watch us run.

If I can't get four people, I'm going to have to pick at random...don't really want to do that!

As far as I know, this list is still accurate...so we can use an extra hand for setup, and a couple for teardown. If you want to show up early or stay late, there's an opportunity.

I'd be willing to trade one of the registration guys for an extra in setup, too -- with the database preloaded, do we really need two people to work the gate? We really could use three dedicated setup folks.

Loren's going to be in Brooksville at 0700?! This is definitely worth getting up early to see!

Whoever's handling the lunch order, we're full up at 75 people...shoot me a note on what we're planning to do.

I'll be there at 7am or whatever time Bill tells me the trailer will be there (not much point in being there before then). I'll probably bail out early, too. The 21st is Alex's birthday. Will probably take him out to eat or something.

I'd prefer two people working registration if possible, it may not seem like a big deal, but opening the gate is a job all in itself. But yes one person can handle it, so if needed, I can help with set up. 8)

Aim for 7:30 and you will be safe. We aim for earlier but rarely make it.

I've always wondered... why do registration stuff INSIDE the gate? If someone who's not supposed to be there slips through... they're already INSIDE before you know they're not supposed to be there. Seems kind of like backwards security to me.

(and it's not just us... the other clubs seem to do the same thing... weird)

That's probably part of it. Personally, I'd rather have to tell someone that they can't come in than to have to sheepishly tell them "get out". Subtle difference, perhaps, but we ARE supposed to be keeping the facility "secure" by not allowing people who aren't on our list to come in.

Because not everyone who works registration knows the keypad combo, but everyone knows how to punch the green button.

Of course there's no logic to it...it's driven by an airport security scheme that believes that a 100-person autocross, where 90% of the people know each other and are on site only in daylight, poses a greater threat than random people coming in with motorhomes to stay overnight...or someone simply climbing the fence at 2am and opening the gate from the inside.

Will you be posting the reg/ins form on-line like the last few times? It works well on our end to fill them out ahead of time. And, I am sure it saves you time.

The forms we post on-line are the SPC-specific forms. So, nope, not this time!

Reg. will be: flash your license, sign our waiver, get checked off the list, get a wrist band and away you go.


Doing reg. outside the gate makes a lot of sense to me - it's always been inside, so I've just continued to do it that way. We'll try it outside and see what happens...
