Fun event! Kudos to Jesse for winning S2 with his 370Z. Definitely kept me on my toes!
I want to bring up a couple good things about this event:
Whoever was the starter for run group 2: you are
awesome! You were very quick with the radio, very easy to understand, and completely on the ball the entire time. Because of you, this was the smoothest/simplest timing experience we've ever had. You rock; you need to give lessons!
Liz who ran the grid in the first run group: much appreciation for your energy in running the grid. You kept it going very smoothly and made sure everyone was where they needed to be. You were really on top of it and I think that really added to the "Fun" in FAST.
As for the results getting up so fast, we're now able to email the results to Loren as soon as the event is over. Then the only delay is checking them for errors and however long it takes to tally up the new season points. So, I think it's safe to say that from now on, we should be seeing results posted the night of our events

Did anyone happen to notice if there was any water or soda left?

I'll try to keep this short...
Thanks to everyone who coordinated this event! This was my first event and I had an amazing experience.
A special thanks to Scott, Chuck, Drew, Jim, and others who either rode with me or let me ride with them. I learned a lot.
I have already passed along my great experience to others and hopefully will get some more representation from Sarasota/Bradenton for next season.

Many thanks to all involved, especially Matt for being an excellent co-chair. Next time he'll be in charge :-). I want to thank people individually, but I fear missing some. The neatest thing about this group is that no one says "no" when asked to do something, and usually on a right-now basis.
Some of those I know I would miss were the group that helped load up and reset the police course. You guys were awesome and your help was not taken for granted.
Trailer was returned last night without getting stuck or tearing up the yard (although not sure how). Sitting on a plane going back to work. I'll comment more later on my take on the workers, skipped assignments and the heat.

I didn't see the emptying of the coolers but I am pretty sure there is just a small amount of water and soda left. No unopened cases of either went into the trailer that I saw.

Really enjoyed the course more than I thought I would, still could only get through the turn around correctly once, just couldn't get set up right through there. Ron and Matt did a great job, and got in all the run groups before the rain!
Loren wrote:Brian Kollar gets the Charlie Sheen award for WINNING the most events. (he also wins the crappy instructor award for obviously not imparting enough wisdom to his co-driver!)
How can you say that? Dan finished second in points, you think I want him to beat me?
I think the saying goes, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink". Dan drives a good line, he just doesn't go fast enough.

I wasn't happy teaching you until you were able to beat me or at least get really close.

Trying to do the same with John.

Ride with him. Yell at him when he needs to go faster! One of the best instructors I ever knew was famous for sitting in the passenger seat yelling "Gas, Gas, Gas!" "Brake! Brake! Brake!" "Turn! Turn! Turn!" loud enough that all the course workers could hear him. (funny part that he got to where he even did it when HE was driving... with no one else in the car) Some people need that instant feedback to learn what the car is capable of.

I ride with him all the time, and what do you think I do in the car ? I'm not quiet, I yell all the time, it's so wierd. He will finally get one part down only to forget other parts of driving. Yesterday I was yelling gas gas, faster faster, and to brake earlier, but every run we did , the same mistakes were made.

Dan will be okay, this is his first season driving, once he puts it all together, or even 2/3rds of it, he will do well.
Lets not forget that the novice I rode with yesterday improved over 3½ seconds, so all is not lost on my instructing.

Oh, alright. I guess it's all Dan.

(but it's more fun to pick on you, Mr. Sheen)
Some have natural talent. Some have talent which requires "cultivation".

Good thing that speedo goes up to 160, Rick!
Seriously, though... that's a cool app. Are the rings on the G Meter .5 and 1.0 G's? If so, I think you've identified your problem.

Loren, I ran across this group, too. Being the noob that I am...I asked my friend about the various clubs, where to start, etc, etc...
My friend said 'FAST' was a great group and it's important to be around the right people in the beginning. After yesterday's experience, he is 110% confirmed.
I'm in Sarasota, it's only about 40 minutes up to St. Pete...so that meant it was closer, too. Brooksville will be a different story...but after talking with members yesterday about Brooksville, I plan to attend the next 'open to rookies' event there.
Gulfcoast is a little further than I really wanted to travel...about 1.5 hr. My 'friend' also said the club atmosphere is not nearly as good. Now that I have a taste for what Auto-x should be, I will probably check them out.
Again, I really want to give every member big 'kudos' for the amazing experience I had. For me, it wasn't about lap times...it was about the experience.
BTW...I was able to continuously improve my times thanks to everyone's help!

Elizabeth Swayne's Subaru WRX STi is misclassed as S3; it should be S1.
