Please do. That will shut up any of the "this is a Miata course" whiners. :)

You'll get through in your yacht just fine. Tightest thing on the course will be a 15-foot wide 90 degree turn, exactly like the one used on the law enforcement course. If they can do it, you can do it.

I thought it was the miata guys whining about S2000's these days? :P

I'd love to see some big cars out there more, hell I might have to buy one after the S2000 is gone just for fun :)

I started autocrossing with sunriders with a damn isuzu pickup truck, the car you drive doesn't really mean anything in autocross. Luckily I haven't heard any real whining with this group over the past year, I stopped autocrossing with other groups cause I got sick of the crap/whining/drama.

Well back on-topic now :)

I'm still trying to get the handle on this whole registration thing, so I'll volunteer for that again. I'll be there when told to be to unlock the gate, anyway, and to relock it at the end, so, I'm at your disposal in-between. Do you want to consider getting in there Fri. pm to set up the course early? Lemme know if I should check with the powers-that-be at SPC.

My .02 on the pre-reg only idea is, yeah, we can do prereg only. It would make it easier to stay on time. Financially speaking, at SPC we tend to get 6-8 "walk-ups." Not that we're hurting for cash (thanks to everyone's excellent attendance and support all year), but those walkups often make the difference between being in the red vs. black at the end of the day at SPC. We can handle a losing event, but do we want to ensure it? We could do regular reg. 'til 8:30, then allow walkups to fill absentee/open spots, then close it all at 8:45 as was posted above?

Your call on pre-reg, Steve. You've got the finger on the finances. Can we set up pre-reg so that it's PAY only, no signing up to hold a spot without paying? Do that with a limit of 60, and if it happens to fill up before the event, we're done!

We don't need to set up Friday for the sake of setting up... the course will be very simple and easy to set. However, it would probably be good to test it out so we know that everything works the way we expect. Sure, see if we can get the nod to do that. (and then we'll see if we can round up some help)

I'll send an email to SPC to ask about us being in there Friday, and if so when they'd allow it.
I wouldn't object to making the event pre-registration required if we think we're going to get enough entrants.
Can we set up pre-reg so that it's PAY only, no signing up to hold a spot without paying?
I'm sorry, it's late and I'm losing track here...we've had good attendance at SPC for the 3 regular events we've had there (62, 56, 58 ) by limiting reg. to 70 and allowing walk-ons. If the max attendance for the Gymkhana is 60, why would we change our procedure (beyond earlier cut-off times that morning)? I'm not challenging, just unclear.

OK...got Bill's PM about switching to pre-reg only and changed the annoucement accordingly. Are we cutting the cap from 70 to 60? No problem...just need to know what to change.

We can set up pre-registration to require pre-payment, but we already have 27 signed up...and I don't think any have pre-paid.

I'm not out to change the world, and I realize that this event is just barely a month out and pre-reg was already open for it.

Would be nice to have pre-payed registration and have it all done before hand, but if it's not convenient to do so, or there are other reasons to not do it, that's fine.

My take is that it's completely pointless to take non-paid pre-reg for SPC, anyway. The only reason we do it for Brooksville is because of the required site access list.

But, hey... you guys have been doing a great job of keeping up with stuff, do what you feel is best.

Well, per Jamie's post above, it's a done deal. If there's already 27 registered, IMHO it's too late to make it a pre-pay requirement.

I'll respectfully disagree that it's pointless to take non-paid pre-reg at SPC. The vast majority of folks choose to do it that way. And, the exchange of money at registration at the event takes less time than signing the waiver. It's not a biggie, and hasn't seemed to hurt attendance.

Bill I can help Steve with registration and I'll stick around to help re-set the SPC course, either way I'lll be there at 7am.

I was thinking of using my Civic Si for this event, but I'm thinking my automatic in my Mustang might be a slight advantage. 8)

Now that I think about it, the last time I did a Friday night setup, we got chastised because someone saw me driving the course that night. (I may have done a little horsing around while I was out there... you know... since nobody was around) If we can't DRIVE and test the course Friday night, there's really not much point in setting up Friday night. Just show up half an hour earlier and we'll get it done Saturday morning.

Steve will have to fill us in on what's allowed there.

That's fine too, I'm not a morning person but I should be able to get there by 6:30 or so.
