Often times radio calls are missed because the person on the other end of the radio isn't paying attention to the radio. I saw this very thing happen at the starting line today. *I* was talking to Les about where to start cars, distracting him from listening to the radio, and thus he missed a "hold start" call. It happens.
I don't want to turn this into a huge discussion, but by your quotes above, it tells us that we do need a ear piece or a headset. Gerry made a very good statement today when we had trouble "holding the start", he said, "the start is like a clutch, if we let it go to fast, things get screwed up".
I'm pretty sure that our radios have a headphone jack, a cheap set of headphones would do the trick.

Les holding the radio to his ear instead of letting it dangle around his neck 2-feet from his ear would also have solved the problem.
And we could run our events much slower... but how many people wanted to have either 4 runs today, or be there for an extra hour or two? Like so many things, it's a compromise. We run as fast as we can get away with running without compromising safety or causing chaos.

Yup, that solves the issue, sorry I brought it up, end of discussion.
Lets see some more videos !

Mazda may have won the brand battle, but at least Fords aren't full of spiders!

To heck with that! I wanted 6 runs, 8 runs, MORE!
I kept thinking: "One more run and I'll nail the exit to the slalom". Never happened.

I easily lost a full second there every time.
I did show Gerry/Gary how to take the last turn though. Dammit!
Had a great time once again. I'll make sure it isn't another 2 years before I show up again. Thanks to everyone for a great event and the warm "welcome back".

FWIW on the "start / runs / time" issue we had a lot of new folks with multiple drivers, it's vitally important to get them (2 driver cars) in the first 2 rows of staging on the first round. The problem I had earlier was that they were somewhat scattered through the grid and it took a round or two to get organized. After that it seemed to flow pretty well. I/we were also trying to accommodate the newbs that wanted to ride with an instructor as well, leading to some delays here and there, I know the instructors were very busy.

May 18* non-points event? Please, tell me you just made a mistake this may be my saver event from AWD invasion.
BTW, congrats Tony for a class win! I'll see you next time.

Thanks for all the complements guys! I had a good day, and it was a good event to send out my motor. Hopefully next time you guys see me will be with 130 more lb-ft and 150 more HP
Awesome event!

(I walked it once with Dave for final safety, but that's not the same) If I had, I'd have probably seen the "cheater line" that a couple people (most notably Greg Antonyants) found through the last turn. I was driving it as it needed to be driven the LAST time we ran this course... where the inside cone-wall didn't allow as much short-cutting. Oh, well. Good job, Greg!

I finished better than I would have thought, I usually go from second to seventh in class after the the afternoon session and wound up seventh overall?!?! I'll take it, too bad my car couldn't any more, limped it to a friends and left it there after the LSD engaged on a few stupid hard shifts going up 19 and a couple please go into gear with a truck barreling down on me moments. I will have to check my under carriage for missing metal chunks, shift fork?
Edit: Joe Vance you asked how I liked the Rivals... They appear to work well for me. ;-)

What's funny is that I had it right. Then said "wait, no, that's not right" and changed it. But, you're right. The next event on May 3 is the Classic. The one after on May 18 is a Championship event.

Great event! Always can look forward to a FAST, smooth event.
Thanks Mario, I was just trying to tighten up S1 a little. Now I need to put a good run together at Brooksville!

Well that was fun! It was pretty hilarious/awesome to autocross my 100-horsepower-of-fury, 35-mpg daily driver!

We 29ers call that the correct line!

Yeah. I know.
Greg, we need to make the first run in that video a "how to apex" tutorial!
