Re: Dec 6, 2014 - Post-Event
Yeah, but I didn't think the lens was going to capture my FACE!
That first slalom wasn't really critical as to which way you took it. The fact is that you could be full throttle out of it no matter which way you took it. But, it looked to me like entering on the right gave a slightly shorter distance, so that's the way I went. The finish slalom, of course, had huge benefits to entering on the right.

FWIW, I went to the right every time...but I was dealing with a understeering car. I think I would have scrubbed too much speed entering on the right. Trevor's car needs a full second between input and car reaction

Points are updated
Noticed a lot of apparent misclassing. Y'all who care should watch that a little closer. Here are the ones I noticed, there may be more:
M1 - Aaron Parke (Unless he snuck in some forced induction while I wasn't looking, or is voluntarily classing up.)
M2 - David Crawford (Ain't no 2010 Camaro with less than 180 hp, should be in M1 with the rest of the Camaros and other muscle cars.)
S1 - Aydin Bilgutay (The GTR is not listed in S1, and is not eligible for stock category. Should be in M0, which is where we place SCCA "Super Street Prepared" class cars.)
S1 - Dat Nguyen (Should be an S2 car unless he's just voluntarily classing himself up.)

I think Dat's car is an MSR or something weird and normally in B Street or "X" with Scca.
That said it probably is legal for S2 also?

Re: Dec 6, 2014 - Post-Event
I took a minute to look up the MX-5 MSR package (believe it or not, I don't know much about it... when it came out, I was still in denial that the 3rd gen MX-5 was really a Miata, so I didn't pay attention to it). As near as I can tell, it was a trunk kit that included stiffer springs and swaybars and some braces. And, you're right... SCCA does class is in BS, so S1 is correct. (the standard 2006+ MX-5 is in CS, which is S2)
Cool, so I was only 50% wrong! I don't think the Camaro or GTR can be disputed, though. They just plain picked the wrong class.

You totally nailed that GT-R should have been in MO. I had to look that one up.
Will the results and yearly points reflect those mis-classed cars? That will make a couple people happy:)

Re: Dec 6, 2014 - Post-Event
As I hinted, "the people who care" should pay attention to what cars are competing in their class. Our policy has always been that after the end of an event, the results are a matter of record and will not be changed.
All of these entries were listed on the entry list on My Auto Events well before the event, as well as on the lists posted during the event. Nobody questioned them.

Re: Dec 6, 2014 - Post-Event
Probably my fault for not bringing it to your attention at the event as it was mentioned as questionable by a couple people. We all ended up sort of assuming it is SS and let it go not having access to an online rulebook.
Besides the only reason I noticed the car is that it had a Child seat in the back making it a "grocery getter" so I had to wonder what the guy does for a living is all? I vaguely remember they are very expensive from a magazine. Other than his last run his driving wasn't spectacular either. Someone thought maybe the car's computer drove the last run
The only GT R I've ever seen autocross ran SMod so who knew? There are so many possible cars in S1 it's hard to keep up with that group not running there myself competitively. As I start running more with S1 I'll pay closer attention to "strays". (I'll have some decent tires soon as are on order - Les and Eric were right as usual.)
It doesn't change the order of finish just moves 4 people up a sticker. Year end points could make a difference in a close race as it doesn't look like there's a breakaway driver yet?

Re: Dec 6, 2014 - Post-Event
Welcome to the forum, Denny! Excellent first post, and nice run.
Doug, I questioned the GTR, myself... but, not enough to bother looking it up at the time. (wasn't in my class, I had other things to worry about) I keep a printed copy of our FAST class lists in the registration box specifically so that we don't have to rely on having internet connectivity. But, nobody asked.
The child seat was an awesome touch! I never made time to talk to the owner, but that made him seem like a "regular guy" to me. Pretty cool.
Typhoid Sean rode as instructor in the GTR, so I suspect he was able to impart some wisdom. (and phlegm)

The driver needs improvement. The car easily had a 39.xxx in it somewhere, but I didn't. There's lots of time to get better though!
