Oh, the cars are ok too, I guess.
honestly, I have ZERO interest in anything even remotely resembling a drag race. I like corners. the more the better.twistedwankel wrote:I could get "into" challenging an R8 at the Duel even up with no handicaps.![]()
I'll even turn off my 15 year old "launch control" and "vectoring". I might even wear my new shoes.
Drag racing is nothing more than wearing a dress and a little lip stick anyhow.
The fat bike is off the table tho'
If it was a very low mile garage queen, you might pull 40k out of it. Old 308's aren't worth much.twistedwankel wrote:Sadly for me that car is worth a shitton of money now had I just bought it and put it in my den I could retire.
garage queen? hardly.twistedwankel wrote:Professional_Slacker wrote:honestly, I have ZERO interest in anything even remotely resembling a drag race. I like corners. the more the better.
So that makes your fancy "launch control" pretty much a useless weight gain then?
Seeing a really nice expensive car sitting still indoors reminds me of a story:
A good friend years ago fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning a Bright Red Ferrari just like Magnum PI used to drive. After replacing the fiberglass belly pan twice for $500 each from things like his own driveway apron and paying for one $3500 normal maintenance trip at the dealer he asked if I'd like to buy it? It simply sat in his garage like they all seem to do eventually.
So we both took a sunny afternoon off work for a joy ride/shakedown cruise. After driving in a straight line for 20 minutes at 75mph on the freeway (talk about boring being passed by semi's) I asked him if we could go to my tire testing country road not far away. Sure he said. Mind you not being a racer he replaced the original tires with smaller Goodyear Gatorbacks...DOH. Got to save money to pay for the dealer parts right? The car was awesome sounding/running/handling and when that V8 got up on cam it screamed - with that dreaded gated shifter not the easiest thing to master but one never got into the wrong gear. Give the devil his due. The car was a marvelous road car but as we went over a gentle hill at significant speed the car landed bottoming out the short suspension and re-scraping the new $500 undershield. Hmmmm. A 2 seat, screaming, awesome sounding car that can only be driven fast on flat roads or race tracks? Not for me. I all ready had two trailer queens. Besides I couldn't get out of my head the vision of idling down a highway not turning any serious corners and all those people passing me. An arrest me Red Ferarri is a cop magnet for sure.
Sadly for me that car is worth a shitton of money now had I just bought it and put it in my den I could retire. Oh I did that anyhow 9+ years ago and now we own two old worn vettes that are a lot more fun (possibly as fast?) and don't get dented by shopping carts. I do have to be careful with some drive aprons tho' and dreaded sleeping policemen![]()
Those of you needing to have some serious fun probably successfully kicking my butt in your beater AND getting a sharp TShirt (that is washable so you can spill lunch on it) included need to sign up for this sometimes Annual event!!
A few people will get to say: "Been there, done that, got the T-shirt."
Nice!Professional_Slacker wrote:garage queen? hardly.

What's wrong having your car called a garage queen ? My 240sx has 270,000 miles on it but it now sits in the garage all but a couple days a month, I consider it a garage queen.Professional_Slacker wrote: garage queen? hardly.
Didn't I see you in a mariachi band in Dunedin?twistedwankel wrote:**Gone April and May. Learning to drive a really big boat and wear a weird suit. Shit one does for their ladies.
