Okay, I think I'm ready now.

What a day! Typical fantastic FAST autocross. As usual, I can't thank enough people. Everyone pulled together where needed and made it happen. The morning was pretty easy as far as staying on schedule because we were short on people. But, being short on people also made us short on workers, which is always a bit of a hassle. The afternoon had nearly a full slate of people, so no shortage of workers and tons of fun! We were even completely packed and had awards handed out by 4:45pm. (Ask around, some clubs can't seem to pull that off... so, pat yourselves on the back!)

Put me in the camp of people who just couldn't quite put it together today. I know my car had at least a mid-high 39 in it, but I couldn't get it there. Best I could do was 40.2. My bag of excuses says "still learning new setup", "tire pressures were wrong", "suncreen in my eyes", "co-driver didn't warm tires enough", and "the course designer hates me".

I had fun just being there even though I got sick. I just wasn't feeling it today. Not sure what was wrong with me. It was still a good time. Met some new people, laughed a lot and learned a few things as I always do. Hopefully next time I will have my head in the game.

1 clean run out of 5...3 off courses and 1 coned...one of the most frustrating autocross days in years...of course still better than just about anything else.

The Subaru has proven with the wrong suspension adjustment it can become quite tail happy with a hamfisted driver.

I suggest the cold morning folks get one extra run to offset the heat the afternoon folks get the advantage...that and since fewer folks attend in the AM.

Some nice runs were observed from station 4...VW's and Festiva's/Focus' were rocking.

That was fun. Poor old Corvette is struggling a bit these days, gonna have to do some work on the old girl I guess since I'm likely not gonna get the Vee running again for awhile. At the very least she still makes good noises. Thanks to all who do what they do to make this happen.

Tim, I seriously considered giving the morning folk a bonus "non-competition" run as we were finishing the first run group and the clock showed us being 10 minutes ahead of schedule. But, the second run group had 16 drivers to the first group's 12, and I was afraid that as sure as I did offer up that run, bad stuff would start to happen and all of the "early" that had accumulated would disappear and quickly turn into "late". Since we experienced that lateness at the previous Championship event (with all of the afternoon drivers trapped at the gate for an extra 10-15 minutes or more), I decided it wasn't worth the risk. It was nice to get the morning done early and not have to rush people out the gate for a change.

its tempting, I need to do some research on 225/45/18, Stock size for me is 225/40/18 and tire clearance on lowered golfs have issues with tire fittment without fender rolling.

I was prepared for a crappy day of blaming my tires, since they always suck when I replace or rotate them. They actually felt just fine, so I guess I'll have to also blame the course designer. Not enough 3rd gear or too much 3rd gear. Definitely the wrong amount.

Watching your run from station five was fun, had me alert when I see your STI being tail happy. Where were you DNF'ing at? The gate near the beginning?

I got an extra run due to the early timing issues, it didn't help and had a worse run (as usual)

Had a blast today. my runs weren't fast, but Hooning doesn't have to be to be fast to be fun. Nothing like doing the turn sideways. lol.

Fun day, mediocre driving on my part. Hope my worn out tires had something to do with it and I'm not just regressing.

Anyway, I've driven at a couple of events with other clubs lately and it's confirmed. FAST is the most fun, friendliest group around! I really appreciate all the effort that goes into these events.

225/45 will be 22mm taller than the 225/40, so half of that will close your existing tire/fender gap. Here's a handy tool for playing with offsets and tire sizes:

You will definitely need to roll front fenders if you plan to run them at your current ride height. Seems a small price to pay to take advantage of a $200 set of rubber . . .

Looking at the other vids, I was apparently the only dumbass that slalomed each cone between the two gates after the turnaround.

I dont know why I saw the left cone of the first gate as the first slalom cone. Probably worth at least half a second there . .

angel and I did it too. that was the how the course was originally laid out, but we were informed at the drivers meeting that it was now going to be "optional". however, after 3 walks and several days looking over the map, I was already ingrained into running it that way.

You guys actually drove that slalom as the course designer (me) intended. I let people talk me into making that slalom optional and I shouldn't have. It totally changed the return side of the course and I think made it WAY less fun to drive. So... maybe a second slower... but you guys had more fun.
