Man I need to get myself a gopro!
Td I'm a noob so take this with a grain of salt (34 second runs, dnfs and finally a 32.5) but I was on the gas much earlier coming through section 3? Through the offset gates before the crossover to turn around. Your car has way more power than mine does but I think it would have easily taken it and probably a half second off imho. I need to get some more experience before I give any criticism though lol! The rest of the run looked very nice to me

I saw you were in the 34's before my last run and I ended up getting a 32.9. I checked out the times in our group and saw you took off 1.5 seconds on your last lap! FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU, congrats on first. One day i'll get it.. ripmarkzeronine wrote:Man I need to get myself a gopro!

Re: 12/05/2015 Brooksville Post-event
Man, I saw my "raw" time being slower than half the cars that had gone so far, and yout in the 33s while I was running 34s, 35s and dnf's. I felt like there was no way I could get even a low 33, but I just went all out and the car stuck to my surprise. (And thank god for 6 runs
)
You did great, I was wondering how our times would hold up to the afternoon runs, but was very happy to get my first "1st" even if it was only out of 6

This was my second event and the course layout was awesome. A very fast course and I found the Chicago Box to be the most challenging. I had a lot of fun and ended up with 3rd place in my class.

Re: 12/05/2015 Brooksville Post-event
Really enjoyed the day and course. With these last two events, I'm liking the 30ish second format (ya know - with a run or two more for the slow learners) . I peaked in the morning runs (yay!) a better time eluded in the afternoon (boo!). After running both sessions, I can truly say I got my fill (my sincerest apologies to those on course for my last FN run meltdown).
In addition to Mr. Evans most gratifying photo, there were interesting leanings, even about the late model NC ecu not approving of Loren's left foot braking.
I also got this video, apparently a guy wrestling a bear, who escapes through a chicago box in the nick of time. This guy probably needs more coaching, better form and some breathing exercises... (Loren, I promise I had both hands on the wheel for all my other runs)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHgUkcYKYxs
Also had a bunch of requests for ride along's, that's new (suckers
) - but that made my day so much more; even managed to get one of those runs more right than suck for David's guest... Hopefully a future driver for y'all.

Good stuff all around, still learning a bunch watching "the pros" at work - can't wait for 19th.

Awesome course. I had a great time battling with Drew and trash talking in the grid, until the end when I finally checked timing and saw I had coned all my runs. I thought I was doing great only being .15 behind Drew with a 31.235 but when you add a cone it's really bad. Oh well.
Here is a vid of my fastest run and a ride along with Drew on his second run.

My best clean run.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWfHSQyV-tM
My best "clean" time was actual holding 2nd gear all the way down ( slower than all my 3rd gear runs ) and with a craptastic turnaround but an "OK" chicago box, go figure.
This was my 32.1 very, very dirty.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBL-PcyqEyY
Every run I kept making at least one big ( +0.25X ) mistake, either on the turn around or the chicago box.

Tony,
Nice job on the turn around and the Chicago box
Those were the two toughest places to get things right.

That was a fun day! (Aren't they always?)
It was a fun course for sure, and it was more challenging than it looked. At least it seemed that way to me.
A big thank you to the photographers for the great shots. I'm glad there are a few of my "attempt to make Matt feel better about his driving" run.
The kids and my wife all asked how the car got so dirty when I got home.

Re: 12/05/2015 Brooksville Post-event
I've been meaning to mention Ron's "excursion". As mentioned, Ron did it all wrong. Went off sideways, and then immediately hopped back on course and DROVE THE RACING LINE all the way back through the finish.
But, what nobody has mentioned is that a bunch of course workers also did it wrong. You're supposed to RED FLAG that driver, and I hope at least some of you know that! (it's only been mentioned at every driver's meeting for the past year)
Remember, if you're a course worker not waving a red flag, you are scenery. The driver is in control, doing what he wants to do. If the driver is doing something decidedly WRONG and you think they should STOP, WAVE YOUR FLAG! As soon as your flag is out, YOU are in control. Be assertive and TAKE CONTROL when it is appropriate to do so!!!
Get that wild errant driver who just drove off into the dirt to STOP, even if it's freakin' Ron. Even if it's ME. You know what they're supposed to be doing. Make them do it. That's your job, that's why you're there.
Drivers are almost always suffering from "red mist" when that sort of thing happens, and not thinking straight (if at all). Take charge of the situation. The red flag is your authority to do so. Driver's WILL stop for a red flag if you get their attention by waving it vigorously and yelling at them. (but if you're just standing there watching them drive by when they shouldn't... they're going to keep doing what they're doing)
