Ive never had the pleasure of driving the rs3's. the review I posted above was from another driver on my local FOCUS forum.

These tires are pretty damn loud tho and they have a mean growl! I was driving last night with very minimal background noise and it was all I could do not to laugh at how ridiculously noisy these things are.. the price of having a RACECAR I guess.

I'll give free rides on dec3 if anyone wants some first hand laughs.

On a side note I was finally able to go for a spirited ride down Ehern cutoff today... all I can say traction and ride quality wise, these tires are NIGHT AND DAY over my Goodyears. At one point in the last couple of corners heading towards 52 I was in 4th gear doing 70+ and the tires didn't sequel or even come close to losing traction. The tires are super responsive, turn-in feel is surprisingly firm and consistent. My FWD torque steer also seems to be lessened. All plus's in my book. [emoji16][emoji16]

The next Autocross event can't come fast enough so I can finally see what these bad boys can really do.

i think i will be buying theses tires soon. However, in the 225/45/17 size.

When he wins his class you will all run them. I know you guys.

After only running one event with these new Federal tires I can say without a doubt they are levels above any "stock" summer tire your car is going to come with. I'm not quite sure how they will ultimately compare to say someone running RE71's or RS3's but for the price point I was able to purchase these at for my wheel setup I can't complain at all. Steering response, handling and grip all added up to a whole new feel for my car which kinda threw me for a loop. I'm going to have to re-learn how to drive on tires that actually work now and learn not to overdrive them like I was doing on my old Goodyear eagles.

Bottom line. Score +1 for the RS-RR's.

One side note I think I'm going to try to find a second set of rims to get these mounted on and get another set of street tires for my car... dunno if I can live with how loud these are for street driving. Anyone have an extra set of 18x8 5x108's laying around?

LOL Yeah, they're loud on the street...even louder on the highway. I've made two trips to the Tail of the Dragon on mine and you have to have the music up a tad more than usual...

Federal RS-RR update... shy of 1,000mi with daily driving & 4 auto-x events (~22laps) all in HOT Florida.... The front tires as you can see are showing a lot of wear since the Focus is FWD. I probably should have rotated them a little earlier, I didn't realize it was that far gone in the fronts... ;(

Dunno if I should be mad at myself for not rotating them before the dog track or happy I didn't chew up the rears too...

Doesn't look like you're too late. Rotate them to the rear, very little wear happens back there. The fronts will catch up.

If they're wearing evenly, you don't have a problem. If they're wearing significantly more on the inside or outside, then you might not have enough tread on the more worn side after the front/rear wear balances to make it worth flipping them on the wheel to get full usage of all of the tread. We did that very thing on one of the sets we ran on the FASTiva.

The fonts and rears both appear to be wearing evenly, that is to say, both the fronts look the same and the rears as well... I dunno why the rears are wearing everywhere except the tires edge, maybe need to get adjustable end links and caber arms...? The last alignment was within OEM spec.

There's just no weight back there. As long as they're wearing evenly, save the edges for the front! You could lower rear tire pressure to get them to roll over more, but if you're happy with the way the car feels, I wouldn't even think about it. Lowering rear tire pressure will make the rear grip more and also effectively soften the overall rear "suspension" (think of your tire as an adjustable spring rate). These are things you don't generally want in a FWD car, anyway.
