mattm wrote:All: I'm going to be in the Tampa area the weekend of the 3rd (Indian Rocks Beach to be specific), visiting from Connecticut. I'm planning on attending the morning session (the temps will be more in line with my home :) ). I will be in a rental beast, and while fun, I'm sure it won't be set up for optimum autocross performance.
That being said, I'm hoping I might be able get a co-drive for this event in a real car.
As to my background, I've got my name in the back of the SCCA Rule Book (National Champ B Stock 1998, H Stock 2002, H Stock Pro Solo 2007, New Jersey Pro Solo Super Challenge winner 2011, along with local class championships in the New England and Northern New Jersey Regions of SCCA). If nothing is available, I understand (there is no right or wrong answer when someone asks for a co-drive, yes or no: it's your car). I wish I knew what the rental pig was going to be but I have a feeling it won't be a CTS-V. :(
So does anyone want to share a car and maybe learn from me (what to do or NOT to do LOL).
Matt Murray
I'll vouch for Matt -- while I think we've only met once or maybe twice in person (back when there was a Washington DC Tour), we're both alumni of the Team.Net mailing list, back in the dinosaur days of the Internet. I'd offer up my car, but I'll only be there in the afternoon.

Depending on your sense of adventure, I'm sure a codrive in the famous FASTiva could be arranged.

If you're not set on only doing the early session, and don't mind co driving a paddle shifted mustang GT with someone who's never done autocross before, I'd be glad to share the car.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to the early session.

Leave the stability control on for the first 2-3 runs or until you feel comfortable with the car tossing it around. You will get all the help your brain can soak up. You still have to control your lead foot:)
Thank you for the advice. I had the same thought with the tires, I was just recently at Tail of the Dragon and should still be set for 40 warm from that. Will be on my checklist along with better brake fluid before I go.

Totally not necessary for autocross.

Team.net!!! Yikes. I joined that listserv 20 years ago. :lust: Forums put that list out of business. I remember getting upwards to 100 posts a day.

Do I dare ask, what is the “FASTiva?” I’m sensing an oxymoron here. :rolling: Is it rear wheel drive?

Given that the rental pig is our only car, I’ll need to head back to IRB after the morning session, but I appreciate the afternoon opportunities being offered. :notworthy:

Lordy. Aren't there laws against this sort of thing? Needs Hoosiers.

Done. Registered. Many thanks to Joe Brannon and his M Roadster. I'll be semi familiar with the set up.
Now I gotta play with the GPS and mapping to get there before 8:00 AM.

Make sure you find the gate on Runway Drive off Broad St (41). There's more than one entrance to the facility...

It is the northbound left immediately after the railroad tracks.

I gave my camera a much needed cleaning, also I finally have a lens hood. So hopefully the "haze" that has been showing up on some pictures will be gone. Can't wait for the 3rd!

Wow 21 people in M2.....Perhaps next season that group can be made into M2A and M2B? At least to give them a shot at more T Shirts anyhow.

I see there are 3 women running in lightly contested M classes against tough guys too. Go Ladies.

Somebody disconnect David's rear driveshaft so he can compete against the Fastiva instead of me please :buck:

I washed all the lime/heroin off my tires and hope to beat Phillip this time even tho' he runs in S4 and has cleaned his lens. I hope to clean his clock again.

I'm mapping off of this address:
16200 Runway Dr, Brooksville, FL 34604

Is that correct?
