I'm with Brian. SPGP is fun once I guess, I was so bored last year that I didn't even use all my free tickets. I don't really enjoy watching most forms of racing anyways, I'd rather be driving :)

+1. Unless you're in the grandstand, where you only have a good view of the runway straight, it's difficult to find a good spot to watch the course through the catch fencing anyhow. Definitely worth going once to feel your teeth vibrate as the cars go by, and worth going if you have free tickets and nothing else to do...but there's an autocross that weekend!

I can do run groups and workers again.

The free tickets include a grandstand and pit pass... Its about $180 of tickets if I remember right from last year. I mean, I'm going to the autocross, like Brian said

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit bummed.

If World Challenge was still coming, I would choose SPGP over autocross. You can autocross every weekend </devil's advocate>

Wow, what a great response - thanks everyone. Need someone to help Brian with registration - I'll be busy doing co-event chair stuff. Someone to work timing/setup with Kenny. Several of you volunteered for multiple spots, so I just filled in the blanks. If you wanna swap with someone, work it out and tell me.

What does "Supplies" entail?
Purchasing and delivering water, drinks, ice, etc. We will need someone to bring ice, but we have everything else we need.
we can bring last second guests?
Yep. This site will be even easier to work with than SPC. No limits, no silly course registration forms to fill out.
this is the weekend of the grand prix.
grand prix is every year. How often do you get to break-in a brand-new autocross site?

edit: just checked MAE - 38 entries in 24 hours - whew!

39 entries.

Put me down to start or grid or something that doesn't require a lot of thought. Happy to do novice (or not-so-novice) ride-alongs, too.

Last year my uncle got us box seat weekend passes through some connection he had. Nothing like an unobstructed view of 90% of the course combined with good food and drink (10-year-old Laphroaig at the bar!) to help you enjoy an event. I doubt he's going to get seats like that again but if he did it might be enough to convince me to cancel. Or maybe I'd just go watch whatever Saturday tie-in they have instead to get myself pumped for driving on Sunday. IRL could use a year to build some good rivalries and get into a new groove after the big shakeup recently.

Or my wife, shes probably going to want to stop being extremely mobile with the baby then anyway. She should have no problem sitting down and helping people get registered.

Wow, as of 9am today we have 53 people signed up, looks like the location of the new site didn't bother many people. :)

I'll be there for setup as usual. If you already have enough, put me on timing with Kenny so I can get more familiar with the program.

Ok, folks, Scott Hutton and I are gonna chair up an event at a new site, and hopefully it's gonna be a doozy! Registration is open:

you need an announcer?

One of the timing crew is welcome to pick up the mike, if they want to talk while they work, or someone with spare time can do it. Not worth dedicating a position to it.

Matt, Course Marshal is a position that actually requires some behind-the-scenes training. Loren is the guru. Send him a pm or email and see if he's able - I know he was working with Aaron Parke, and Scott Hutton may or may not have started his studies. I'm not sure how many he can school at once...

do pursue it though - if not now, later when Loren can. The more folks "cross-trained" the better.

Ok. looks like all the dedicated volunteer positions are accounted for. Thank you all VERY much for the quick responses - like I said, if anyone wants to switch around jobs, work it out and let me know. FWIW, Scott just sent me a first draft of the course - it's very nice. We're gonna work it a bit before we send it to the Course Marshals for review.

2 registration spots left...
