Did your 1999 come with leather seats? If it did, then it has a LSD. A LSD only came as part of a package: Leather, or 10AE, or SPORT Package (aka HARD-S).

I *think* the seats have been replaced... They look close to brand new (they're fabric) Ben took it for a quick test drive and suspects its an open diff... Said he'd know for sure on Saturday. If it is, I'm back in the class I wanted to begin with!!! Also, he says it does not have anti lock so basically I have the el strip-o model.

Did you order 195 width tires for it?

Glad u reminded me... ordering tomorrow, the 5th is the last day for that sale. I know the 205's would bump me back up as compared to the 195's?
(shit, are the festys 205's? oh well. If so, that's okay, 205's it is)

Happy belated, BTW :)

Wow we got pretty much the same car! I just picked up a 99 Miata. Immediately went out and bought a set of RE-71s, but for way more than people are talking about here, so next time I'll ask for some advice. I may have to ask Lauren about bump stops, shocks, and all that fun stuff this Saturday.

For the LSD question, you can see here ( https://www.miata.net/faq/production.html ) that if you have power door locks, or a rear spoiler, you have an LSD. Mine is the leather package so I had all of the bells and whistles out of the gate (and those 15 inch rims). Another thing worth checking for is ABS, which you can find by asking Mazda or looking for a black box with tubes coming out up by the passenger firewall.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on Saturday and spinning our new used Miatas together!

Mazda told Sally her car had ABS and a Torsen, but it doesn't have ABS, and since it has cloth seats and 14 in wheels, I'm assuming its a base package car and is Torsenless. Doesn't matter now that we swapped my wheels onto it, 205's kick it back up to S4 anyway.

I'm gunning for Phillip this season, flop for flop, open diff for open diff. Farm truck, you're on notice.

The smack tawkin commences! Hmm... a Ben/Philip rivalry.... now I'm torn... (sorry Ben) ;)

(FWIW- i have power door locks, but no ABS... and prolly no torsen. go figger)

Do you have cruise control and a windblocker or the little screw holes where one was? Power door locks and cruise control is a good indication of the Popular Equipment Package. PEP = LSD.

No ABS on your NB Miata just means you can't brake like Joe Brannon. (hey, it's the ONLY thing I can call Joe out on, dammit!)

By the way, along with that set of Honda Bumpstops, I have a set of modded front upper control arms that will get you a little more camber. They're pretty easy to install (especially if you do it while you're already doing shocks). Would up your ~1 degree of negative camber to more like 1.8ish, as I recall. Yours for very little money.

Joe- I've got power door locks and cruise control. No ABS. No Leather. Mystery differential. Am not familiar w the windblocker. I'm beginning to think my car is just weird. Mazda corporate obviously was a huge help. NOT.

Now I'm gonna have to wait for my Big Reveal for a whole MONTH!?!?!?!?! (insert crying here)

There's another FAST event on 9/23. You don't have to wait a whole month. (unless your priorities are all wrong, of course)

That's allllllmost a month. At least, it'll feel that way.

Basically, autocross has surpassed funerals in my life's priorities. The friends have been warned- dont die during the season if you want me to be there. :P

You definitely have the Popular Equipment package. That means you have the Torsen LSD. Nothing weird about your Miata. :)

Ack I just saw the cancellation notice. See you in three weeks!
