Obligations. I was the "lunch man" Sunday. I also got FTD in "P" class based on PAX. In a shitty old 14 year old nearly stock car. Wife didn't show.

So no problem. I will run your "shit house" FWD car in R1 and still beat you in M4 and PAX next event. Live with it.

The Mayor not the "professor" .....hahahahahah Lunch is for both our wives (if they show up). Mine will.

This was a season-long co-drive arrangement. That's what made it fun. We were close enough that it was a toss-up as to which of us would win, and we would either grab dinner after each event, or hit up FAST Monday. Good times.

That actually sounds like a bunch of fun, but we should do a co-drive again, I know there is still much to learn. The only time we ever did it was the "perfect run" and I BARELY squeaked one out on you. Which is funny because it seems the only events I do good in are non-point events.

Our wives will ride with us. My wife will tell you suck. What will your wife say? hahahahaha
Are we on? Any car any place. I have 3 cars. I've raced them all with my wife in them AND so has everyone else.

I haven't met you yet, at least I don't think, but I love you Doug!! I always run in the mornings but I would love to co-drive sometime with you!! We can even run my truck, levels any playing field... Even if I get my ass kicked, I will go buy you and your wife lunch at McDonalds.. JK.. Subway!! My wife (girlfriend of 3-1/2 years) wont be any part either like Loren, she just tells me "Have fun, I'm staying home with the dogs."

Casey I'm changing my name soon to "DAN" (Days Are Numbered) at least for autocross:) I'm stiff for a day or so after an event. Loren knows I've let top class National drivers test my car's abilities and they are consistently 3-4 seconds faster than my times (in only a couple runs) so I know it's not the cars I'll make it to a classic one of these days and you can be one of many who's driven my cars. A truck. Hmmmm. That has to be interesting. We had a tow truck class up North once would have been the only time I've tried that on all seasons in a pickup. Your truck appears to be well sprung.

No need to buy lunch then as I often bring it:) I learned my lesson with Steve a few times racing for wiper money. He gets a lot better when money is involved. Loren would be extra tough for a free Monday meeting supper with his trick rig. (I'd have to find coupons first.) I can count on one hand the number of FWD cars I've autocrossed in 25 years. Not my favorite setup but fun.

So this is genuinely the first event where I felt like I had a shot at FTD. I obviously didn't... but it's easily the closest I've come.

- At the heart of it, I'm at a cross roads now on how to structure my runs. I've typically been playing it semi safe for a clean run and then exploiting the limits once established; dare I say that I'm considering somebody else's go for everything and reel it back in approach...

I tried doing that at the event. I spun out on the first run. Then I dialed it way back and which resulted in me going even slower than I would normally go and getting a first clean run of a 36. We were close to FTD range so I think overall you/we still had a very solid time, nothing to be disappointed about

I really enjoy the venue and it's a nice drive up 41 in the morning especially at this time of the year when it's daylight for the trip. Great company as ever and great that we managed to avoid the rain.
Well I finally got round to editing my videos from the Dunnellon event.
Here's my fastest run of the day 35.740 - not good enough to cross the line of shame but within half a second which doesn't seem too bad. I'm still doing the double steering input from time to time, but I don't realize it at the time so will still have to keep working on cleaning up my inputs. Also, I'm spinning the hell out of the inside tire again, so I really need to work on my own right foot traction control. Now I can see where a limited slip diff would be helpful!

I still need to work on my hand position on the steering wheel but these videos are really helping me to highlight some errors / bad habits and I will work on them slowly as you will see shortly!

So, talking of working on driving habits - on my later runs, I really worked on keeping my hands in a better "1/4 to 3" position on the wheel. This is my last run (7th, not 5th ignore the text on the video). Compare it to the run above - it is difficult to break the habit and I still need more work, but when I get it right it really feels better to instinctively know which direction the wheels are facing. I need to keep working on it until it feels natural, since at the moment, I'm spending time thinking about hand position which detracts from concentrating on driving the racing line.

By the way, I did the door mirror trick again which works great as I didn't know which cone I hit on this run. Turns out Loren's theory that people always hit the third cone in a slalom is spot-on

Thanks to everyone that has congratulated me on FTD, usually with the same phrase, "I can't believe you got FTD!" It really builds the confidence... ;-)

Anywho, it was a fun course and I am thankful that Mark doesn't like driving to Dunellon! I finally watched the video and I had two big errors that would have put me deep into the 52s. Trouble upshifting to third before the slalom and too much of a slide in the turn around.
