Let's have a look at the course map, shall we? This is one that Steve designed a few years ago. I'm not sure we've run it since then, and I know it was one of the few events that I missed. But, everybody liked it, so I thought it was worth bringing out of the archives!

Was making the slaloms optional really necessary? :snicker:

I don't remember this course, but it does look fun, they're mostly all fun.

I'm ready to get back to racing after whole month off :)

So M2... hmmm, yeah... The rust machine and I have our work cut out, but we like it this way. We work best under pressure!

I'm signed up for the afternoon session, but if anyone is dropping the morning session I'd be interested in signing up!

So here's the deal. I'm screwed that the afternoon has filled up with guests two weeks early and my wife isn't up for driving anymore or paying $40 to pretend. It's bad enough that one has to pay for a guest with no lunch. So here's the new deal. You people who fear driving in the afternoon rain can rest easy for the whole season. I am ONLY running in "Fuzz Nuts" in the afternoon with our 3 cars in two or three legal classes with shit tires and no prep. FEAR that. What you need to fear is that with all your dry practice runs in the cool/dry morning I will hand you your ass in Fuzz Nuts every afternoon with a passenger.

Live with it. No points. No T shirt. Maybe one of your "guests"/employees will allow my wife to be my "paid"/unfed guest/passenger this event? That easy enough for you?

Have a great event without us if not.

Um... Doug, you could have just emailed me and asked me if I could open up another guest slot.

And if we didn't charge for guests, we'd get EVEN MORE people who sign up as guests "just in case" they decide to show up, and people like your wife would get left out even more often.

As for the $7.50 guest charge, after fees, we only see about $6 of it. And if we don't do lunch, we DO include snacks, and water, soft drinks and ice. We do have to pay for that stuff. Compare it to a drag strip, circle track, drift event, whatever... they're going to charge you AT LEAST $10 to get in the gate, and then they're going to charge you $3.50 for a bottle of water.

It's not looking a lot like the Late Session is going to sell out. I could switch a couple driver slots to guest slots pretty easily if that's what we need to do. I hadn't even noticed that guests had sold out. With so few drivers, that's kinda weird.

Not to change the subject but I'm having a hard time seeing the fast line at the turn around. I'm thinking swing wide and keep your speed up but other times I start thinking brake hard and and run a tight line. I know I'm out of practice and I think I see the line for the rest of the course but I just cant see the turn around.....any pointers other then turn left

I opened up 4 more guest slots if anyone matters one.

The hairpin turnaround... The general rule is "tight is right". But, in a momentum car, maintaining speed needs to be considered as well. There is no easy answer. Do what works best for you, your car, and what comes before and after.

I'll probably nudge to the right a little on entry and go for a tight, controlled exit.

Thank you. I must have eaten a 3 day old sandwich (did eat 2 of them and a new salad). I took advantage of your kind offer.
Loren wrote:Um... Doug, you could have just emailed me and asked me if I could open up another guest slot
Didn't know that was an option. Sorry. Computers have no soul to me. They piss me off. Needed to vent after driving all afternoon in Spring Hill looking for new tennis shoes with a sore heel. Maybe next time the drivers will fill up FN faster than the guests. That is where I'll be running all season. Fuzz Nuts 3 or 4 classes late day as have the old tires to do that until they all cord out. Doubt I'll ever finish in the bottom 50% in PAX.
