Brooksville - Better enjoy it while you can

Brooksville was never my favorite, but certainly sad to hear the news.

The best place in the Tampa area is...MacDill AFB! Jamie, Dave, and gang need a full court press on it.

This is super bad news. With so many people involved in this sport with this club, there have to be resources out there for finding a more permanent site. And its not just FAST thats losing Brooksville, its SCCA too, right?

That’s a lot of resources that could be pooled for two clubs.

SCCA, FAST, PCA, and FCRC are the main users of brooksville.

Unlikely when we're supposed to be adding aircraft...no empty pavement. And there's still no Corvettes parked outside Wing HQ...we need a fighter wing.

Seriously, designing and ordering shirts for an event that's less than 30 days away isn't a task that I want to take on. It's not a bad idea, nor is it impossible... I just have more pressing things to focus on in that time.

If someone wants to tackle it, let us know.

The design will need to look good on a black shirt.

Amen to that. Maybe just sell some iron on patches. Do they still make those?

I hope you meant 20 acres because 2 will only be barely enough for paddock space. Trying to envision 100-110 cars in my horses' 2 acre paddock is a stretch.
So exactly how big do you think the Police slab was in St Pete?
You have to give up on crazy mph. Use skills.
Can't say I did the St Pete police site. Did do SPC (my first autocross ever) but that was bigger than 2 acres and the paddock was for about 40-50 cars. And you forget what car I drive? crazy mph? :naw:

SPC is the police training pad in question. It's roughly 500x400, which is about 4.5 acres.

It's hard to think of autocross sites in terms of acres. The shape of the space and the hazards present are very important.

The difference is I could run the entire courses at SPC, Dog Track, Horse Track in 1st gear in all of my cars and rarely (once) hit the limiter @ 42mph in RX8. I'm nearer the top of 2nd gear at points at the airports in those same cars on a 150' wide pavement. BTW you beat me in all my cars so you are maintaining your speed much better :thumbwink: I was assuming no obstacles so every inch could be used on a special rectangle running all the way to the edges one car at a time doing laps and not paving the parking area initially. Maybe do a rolling grid on a driveway like a drag strip? Baby steps. 200'x200' is one acre. No point in having an R class on a small pad either. Attendance will be limited also just like now to get a lot of runs.

The Airport is planning on cutting their main runway -2" concrete and repaving +4" of asphalt this year's budget for $3M. No idea where they are going to dispose of 7000' of 70 yr old rubble? Maybe just leave it on site? They are also planning a 1000' runway extension East under that same contract. The budget is public record and 420 pages long.

But land is priced in acres....

SPC was 4.5 acres for the course area, and that's about as tight as you'd ever want. Then probably an equal amount or more for the space we used for the paddock...got to have somewhere for Aaron to park that enormous trailer.

They'll probably grind off those top 2 inches...lots of concrete dust, which is much easier to recycle into new concrete.
