2 event credits for course workers, free lunch, and a couple of fun runs on the track? heh. I'm in. I'll even help with course set up for a sweet ass deal like that.

+1 courseworker. I suck at driving so I will be better there anyway! +1 on cherry coke as well!

Great! Add Carl and Bob to the list of courseworkers. Thanks, guys!

As Loren said, we could still use a few more hands, but we're getting there.

It IS a sweet deal, isn't it! You tell 'em, Carl! :D

Sign me up for anything! I'll be there.

Great news! Mary wants to start driving! This school would be a perfect begining for her. :D

Planning update:

Still need 2-3 more courseworkers.

School is limited to 32 novice drivers. "Novice" means having done no more than 5 autocrosses.

Entry fee is $60. Students will be given a 50% discount for the January 17 event as well, if they choose to register for it.

Informational email has been sent to the instructors.

The MAE page is up, registration will open 12/10 at 10 pm.

I'll eventually get around to starting an "Official Novice School" thread, with more specifics once they are fully ironed out.

$60? I have told a least 3 other people it would be $30. Guess that's what happens when you assume. Hopefully they will still sign up. More than Miatas, 1 RX-7, 1 G35 and 1 280z.

Sorry, Ed. To pull off an event with half the normal number of entries, but all of the same expenses and more (site, insurance, lunch for a full crew of students, instructors and workers... plus the free event entries that we're giving to volunteers... plus the discounted future event entry we're giving to the students)... it just can't be done for $30.

Besides, the amount of seat time plus dedicated instruction available is worth far more than $60.

No problem, I agree, just didn't think about the price. I attended the last driving school, but don't remember the cost.

Last year's school was $60, also. FAST is immune to inflation! Even at that price, we'll lose money on the event. But in order to hook in more newbs, it's worth it - kinda like a drug dealer giving free samples... Oh, and there's always the satisfaction of spreading the joy of autocross.

It is possible that the price might change, as we consider exactly how many students to allow. Fewer students will give a better teacher:student ratio, but will add cost. We'll see...

And thanks for spreading the word!

LadyMaynie - thanks! I've added you to the list of courseworkers - it's a long day, but worth it!

Seems like you already have quite a few, but if you need another worker I'm in.
