My vehicle tickled the limiter on a couple of sections...7200 rpm equals 60 mph.

Corvette, race tires, 60 mph... perfect!

Sounds like another great event!! Wish I was there, hopefully my health and work situtation will improve in time for the next event. :? I could barely turn my head side to side more than 10º up until a couple days ago.

I just printed out the results and will update the points and try to send them over to Steve for posting by tonight.

Points have been updated and sent to Steve, theres some interesting competition for 1st place in some classes, here's a run down including a dropped event.

A- Howard clinched

C- Very tight, Todd leads Jack by 3 points

D- Drew leads by 4 over Kenny, and Charles has a very very slim outside chance to tie for first, with a Drew and Kenny no show and a 1st place finish 7/12.

E- Very very tight, Loren leads Ron by 1 point

F- Jeremy clinched

G- Bob clinched

H- Aaron clinched

J- Brian (me) leads Mike by 8 points, so I need a 5th place or better to win the class

R- Scott clinched

Some other videos...in car:

A not so good technique...(ie spin)

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Corv ... 689146.htm

A slightly better technique...(my best run)

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Corv ... 689145.htm

Congrats to the season winners!

Also reading the lastest Grass Roots Motorsports, if I'm not mistaken Howard's CRX was mentioned as a runner up in recent Nebraska Pro Solo (driven by co-driver Darrin DiSimo). Impressive!

I was thinking about that yesterday. Couldn't Howard's car be easily interpreted as a "racecar"? I glanced at it for 5 seconds, and thought, yep, racecar! And you guys are pretty close typically, right?

It was another great event. I had a good time. Bob got 9 points, and eliminated me from 1st place contention in G class, but it was great battling him, Chris and Mark. Congrats to Bob!

As for the course, I can see both sides of the argument. I'm a fan of fast sweepers and offset gates. I don't like elements that are obviously meant to dramatically slow you down. However, I take autocrossing at face value. These slow courses and slow elements are part of the game. I don't like to admit it, but the slow sections define how good you are. I drive a momentum type of car, and I hate being reminded that I'm not good at it.

The course definitely made you work for a fast time. I guess either my steering rack is crap or the fluid kept overheating, as in the back half of the course (5 of 6 runs) the power steering would go out. Made for nice surprises as you're in a good flow and suddenly the car takes much more effort to turn.

I guess I should start looking at an upgrade...

I'd suggest starting another thread on the topic. But, if you can find enough support for the notion, I bet you could talk Steve into allowing a non-points special event in August.
I didn't see another post about this, and I don't think I should be the one to start it, but I vote for this as well.

Boiling over PS fluid is not an extremely rare problem. Neons used to do it regularly, and even some Miatas have been known to do it, among many other cars. Try flushing out your PS hydraulics with some synthetic PS fluid (or synthetic ATF, pretty much the same thing), it's more resistant to heat issues. Fixes it for a lot of people.

Glad you enjoyed the ride, Dave. It's always good to have an experienced driver verify your setup. Seems like you had as much fun with it as I did, and you turned times that were almost as fast.

PS: I averaged 44.2 mpg on the way to the event, and 44.6 on the way home. I love this car!

I went thru 12.2 gal in 212 mile on that tank

Corvette's have significant issues with PS. Big, sticky tires, heavy vehicle weights, and systems not designed for track use all conspire against the fun.

Fresh fluid required. Many use Redline. I'm happy with GM Cold Climate...synthetic. Even so, mine was showing distress-not unusual though.

Sweet. I really wish I would have gotten to see how my car did on this course, since it was designed for it 100% and all... Thanks for the vids.

I never got a good run in since I was trying to push to hard where I shouldn't. I learned from that today and I will try to suck less at SPC. See you all in july.
Thanks! I'm really glad that everyone enjoyed the course. I finished my resume with a lot of help from a lot of people and to this date I've sent out 40 applications / resume's. I should be out in July unless I have to work that day, if I find a job. Hope to see you all soon. And BTW, the spinach and feta was 100% me.
