As for novices, I see a need to always attract new drivers. Where we seem to have the biggest problem with attendance is at Brooksville. Maybe we need to reduce the entry fee by $5 for novices for their first 5 events. Another would be to present awards at the completion of the event, at least for the novice classes and go a little deeper in presenting awards. Awards are given based on the number of entries in a class. Unless you have at least 6 or more in a class, only one or two awards deep are given. Hope you understand. Some clubs will give a token dash plaque to all entrants which depicts that day's event. Maybe when they are talking about a two day event, such as the one at Brooksville in Oct., charge a little more and include a tee shirt. You need to pre-enter so just request the person's shirt size.

Re: Possible awards for novices
I'm not seeing a difference. Since March, we've been running between 35 and 45 entrants regardless of site. January (SPC) and February (Brooksville) were a bit larger. I also don't see the price as a deterent -- $30 is barely a tank of gas these days. I think attendence changes are more due to the fact we didn't post event notices anywhere except the FAST website for much of the year.Native wrote:Bob Tamandli said:

As long as we keep subdividing the classes, they're not going to get more than 4-6 deep.Another would be to present awards at the completion of the event, at least for the novice classes and go a little deeper in presenting awards. Not a bad idea...this used to be pretty common at one time. And I know 3/4 of my T-shirts are from autocross events. Some clubs will give a token dash plaque to all entrants which depicts that day's event.
