That was the best auto-x course that I have ever run, however, in station #6, next time, you're gonna have to get a younger, more agile guy to fetch cones. I was loading up on Bengay on the way home.

Thanks Shon, it was a great event and the course was fun and challenging!

That'd be me........ the trailer is definitely the problem as I got no running lights on my truck either. It might be as simple as replacing the connector on the end of the harness. I know the female spade coming out of it looks like someone chewed on it. The left running light/turn signal light assembly also seems to need a swift punch to come on at times, that may just be a loose bulb.

That run looked 5x better than my best, I'm sure that'd have been deep in the 48's.......

I was slow and "late" almost everywhere.......

Great job on the Course and chairing Shon. This was my favorite course to date and I am ready for the next event already.

I'm just down the road from the trailer. I can change out the pigtail this weekend and hook it to the truck to see how it goes. My low rider may have caused the damage anyway. It's been a while since I've towed that bad boy though...

I'll just need to get a hold of howard to make sure the power is on so I can soldier the wires in place. I was planing on volunteering for trailer duty for Feb and need to see how long of chain extensions I need to get anyway (they currently don't reach my safety hooks).

Big thanks to Ed and Charles for getting the trailer towed and moved; we all have to give those guys props to taking care of the trailer. Without the people towing the trailer, there would be no event.

Got beat by Loren though, no surprise there, but I believe he got a couple extra runs.......just saying.

Hey, I almost NEVER get reruns! This time I got two for stopping for downed cones... and it was exactly the same cone both times!

BTW, I know I suggested leaving the car alone for the most part, but I think you could talk me into new shocks now. It will be a lot easier to drive fast, and it won't make us ill to ride with each other. A win-win!

Yeah, sounds like a bad ground, so I'll be checking that first. Hopefully, it's just the ground in the pigtail it's self and it'll be a quick and painless swap. Now, where did I put those heat shrinks....

It's our usual practice to keep children and pets very closely supervised. At SPC that means behind the guardrail at all times, and only with an adult/guardian if moving elsewhere. At B'ville, that would mean only on the edges of the runway where cars are parked. In neither place should they be roaming through or past an active grid. I think the problem is letting people set up a paddock in the grid area. At SCCA events we keep a solid line of cones in between the paddock area and the grid area with a couple small gaps to let cars go through. This way it's more obvious you are crossing into a danger zone and no one is allowed to set up camp in the grid area. You will lose some precious space doing this, but I think it's probably worth it. Just move the trailer another 75 feet farther down the runway to allow for a larger grid/paddock area.

I like that idea on the surface, but it's not going to eliminate the problem entirely.

People will still want to get as close to the course as possible to "spectate". That means that they'll be wandering through the active grid to hang around the trailer just as they always do. (and they'll be bringing their children and pets with them, just like they always do)

The problem here is with the few (very few), not the many. I don't think we need to change the way to operate, we just need those people who are bringing children and pets to be hyper-vigilant about keeping said children/pets out of harms way.

What does that mean? It means that a safety steward should never see anyone under the age of 16 or with more than two legs in the active grid where cars are coming and going from the course. Simple, no?
