Hey, could one of you South Pinellas types pick up a couple bags of marble dust for this event?

We've got about 18 slots still open in the Late session and one more week of registration. Tell all yer friends!

Oh, and here's the Course Map (printable PDF).

Wicked! That's a completely different layout than I've ever seen at SPC. I dig it! You must have spent some time on that one...or it's been cooking for a while in the back of the brain.

Shhh... don't tell anybody, but it's going to be the Duel course for December.

We'll be doing some testing of the two Duel starts during lunch. That's why you'll see a few odd cones out there that don't seem to have any reason to be there.

Ah, that explains that gap in the two cone walls. Kinda thought it looked like it could be setup as a DUEL. Guess I should start on the shirts so I have plenty of time to proof it. :whip:

I know a guy with a GTI.
Would you like a little friendly, "unofficial" competition [cough, cough loser cough] ?

Yah, and we'll also be looking for a volunteer or two to make supply runs in the morning and maybe a little later for extra ice...

I just have to say, some of those long walls of cones look tasty. :chuckle:

Ron, do I need to put you on course work for a while to remind you of why we don't hit walls of cones? :)

I'm signed for the afternoon. I can get there a bit earlier 10:30ish and make a few supply runs before my session.

Noob alert! :binky: This will be my first autocross event; I'm really looking forward to it and just wanted to wave hello!
Look for the quiet guy at the late session with the red G8 GT - not ideal for autocross, but I'm planning on taking it all in, starting slow, learning and improving.
Bonus nostalgia for the old "JC" stomping grounds.

So, I've been reading up on all the typical questions. Here's one for all you vets: What do you wish you'd known before your first event?

A couple suggestions, show up for some of the early session to watch. Beg rides,, nothing like getting a few ride-alongs with folks that have been doing it for a while. Also, walk the course as much as you can and try to walk with some of the regulars.

Ask an instructor to ride along with you and listen to them, bad habits are easy to get and hard to get rid of.. Trust me, I know! Most of all, have a blast.

Wish we could be there, but it is going to be a Key West - Duval Crawl weekend for us!

My first autocross was sometime in May 1995. So, I guess the one thing it would have been good to know is how addictive it can be!

If you've read a little bit, got your car cleaned out, and aired up your tires... the rest should fall into place. We take good care of our novices.

Make sure you walk the course at least once alone, if your yakking while your walking you won't remember a thing.
