You're getting there. I think the car easily had a mid-38 in it. The good news is that the car is definitely set up well enough that you don't need to mess with it. Just drive it!ExecutiveHydra wrote:The driver needs improvement. The car easily had a 39.xxx in it somewhere, but I didn't. There's lots of time to get better though!

I thought the two cars in S1 that were mentioned didn't look right, especially the GTR. Didn't realize it was on me to bring it up. Lesson learned I guess. Glad it was brought up so I'll know what to do in future situations like that.

But Dave next time you'll have to deal with the new "autobahn" tires on the GreyV8 so no time left to worry about stray Nissans or other AXIS cars. Yes picked car up tonite in the ice with new shoes. So that's what steering feels like!!Dave S wrote:I thought the two cars in S1 that were mentioned didn't look right, especially the GTR. Didn't realize it was on me to bring it up. It's every driver's responsibility to class their car properly (and ask for help if they need it), and every competitor's responsibility to police their own class as they see fit. Me and Steve and Ron or whomever can look at the registration list and see things that "don't look right" (and I'll often email someone if I catch an issue when they register), but we won't catch them all, and there's no way we can check every car for mods that aren't allowed in their class.
So, yeah. If you see a classing issue, try to address it yourself. If you don't feel comfortable doing so, bring it to our attention and we'll look into it. Most people DO want to be classed correctly and compete fairly. Misclassings are usually unintentional, just the result of incorrect assumptions.

I was reviewing the 62 times slower than me with my 1.3 liter NA motor.
I didn't feel so bad like I did finishing 6th anymore following BEN AND his co-driver Spasmodic.
Well, yeah I still felt bad until I saw I beat Skinny Ron by 43/1000's.....woohoo.

Re: Dec 6, 2014 - Post-Event
What a great event!
Thanks to everyone who made the day so much fun for both me and my wife.
It was my first competitive autocross having completed the novice school in November and Tammy's first time in an autocross ever. We both had a blast and it was great to see how we were so warmly welcomed into the FAST crowd.
Special thanks to Loren, Jamie and Steve who were fearless in riding with us both and quick to offer tips and advice on where to improve. Also thank you to the competitors who let Tammy ride with them in the morning session to help her get familiar with the course layout.
It was nice to catch up with fellow novice school graduates during the day. In addition to driving it was my first time working the course and it was certainly a case of in at the deep end on the radio in the afternoon but it was great fun. Pete, thanks for doing most of the running and cone chasing, I enjoyed working with you. Hope you got your wiper fixed
I am definitely hooked and will be back soon. Unfortunately I work most Saturdays but will squeeze in as many events as possible - got to love those Sunday events.
See you soon. Dan.

Hold on just a minute. Paul started this by saying he beat me by 2 seconds last month so I told him he should be able to do it again. He reluctantly agreed and now posts his win by less than 1/10th of a second. I was merely reminding him of what we agreed to, nothing more. As for the video. That's my style of coaching! When I used to talk racing lines and going slow when you need to and getting on the gas earlier when you could it never sank in with you. You would just go slowernathanwilliams617 wrote:Paul, don't let Chris down play you beating him, raw times don't count! Well....yeah....I know where I'm eventually going and brakes to there are sort of irrelevant...it's still Hell no matter how long you postpone it. My brakes last the life of the car.Jamie wrote:Hmm...I thought the smoke you trailed into turns was because you waited until the last moment and then braked like Hell....twistedwankel wrote:Most Autocrossers are Atheists you will be glad to know:) I'm merely and egnostic. Fun day on a kick ass course even if I was a dirty boy all day. Oh well, it wasn't the first time and it won't be the last. I even tried to slow down a bit to clean things up to no avail. I'm still exploring the limits of the car and the new tires and getting used to the extra speed everywhere. I also checked some tire temps and I'm not gettting nearly enough heat in the tires, I need 40 degrees more for them to be optimal. Its was cool, but certainly not cold Saturday and I've dropped the tire pressures as low as I can reasonably go I believe, not sure what else I can do other than hope for warmer weather.

With more practice and a near perfect run I think I could have been well into the 33s.

Hehe, I remember watching a Top Gear episode where Shumacher (? spelling), brought his car to the track and let one of them drive it. He told them the hard part about driving his car is you have to go fast to get the tires up to temp but you can't go fast until the tires are up to temp.lddavis91 wrote:Fun day on a kick ass course even if I was a dirty boy all day.
