Awesome run for 2/3/4 in M2... Ron just made it more than interesting - Might not be a need to show 4th with a possibility on a tie for 3rd! (How apprapo would that be?)

Looks like I have S2 locked down and I'm super stoked, not going to lie. Never expected to end up doing so well as a newb. Really I owe it all to the experienced peeps that are so willing to share their knowledge and experience, ie Lauren, Drew, Dave, Steve, Phillip, etc.
Many thanks. Now to decide if I want to try my hand in M2 next year or get some more seat time in S2.

Congrats on S2! You really stepped up the game as the year moved on. S1 is also well in hand.. but I think I'm going to try and get in one more event. July 1st morning.

New sites are always fun. But I'll be in Jax racing with my kids during Father's Day weekend.

A great achievement in your rookie year!! Good job. The whole scope of DS (S2) will change next season alone in DS. http://drivefast.org/2018-stock/JasonS wrote:Looks like I have S2 locked down and I'm super stoked, not going to lie. You will still have to race against the Larsons occasionally and other trunk kit twins. Even tho' you beat CS+DS this year - CS are being promoted UP into S1 which is BS + CS.

Doesn't affect me as I rarely beat S4 ES with either of my cars

If you want to deal with a higher level of competition just run S1 next year and keep your car stock. Buy tires not springs. Think about putting your toe in the deep end with some other clubs too. Autocrossers are a great bunch of people no matter what club they run with. You will see FAST club people no matter where else you go.
Again....a great show of driving. Keep it up.
Doug
**I just noticed your car is a 2016. Mods might invalidate your warrantee? Just another thought.

This may give me the opportunity to ride with Mike Lawson if S1 and S2 are in 2 different run groups. Would love to have him ride along and give me some feedback. Dude is FAST.

Yes he is. So is his wife for that matter. He convinced me to correct the rocking chair issue in my Vette so now I have to stay awake for the whole run. Not sure if his car has the trunk kit or not? If not he will go to DS/S2 with you. The scary story is Bob T with his now CS Porsche beat me by .003 sec against my BS Vette last Sunday. We won't over think next season...yet. He had newer tires.JasonS wrote:This may give me the opportunity to ride with Mike Lawson if S1 and S2 are in 2 different run groups. Would love to have him ride along and give me some feedback. 2017 Season Points Discussion
Points have been updated.
Just one event left in the season.
Some interesting stuff going on...
M0 - Done
M1 - Somebody could steal 3rd place from Mark Russell with a bit of luck
M2 - The only class with 10+ qualified finishers, so 4th place will be awarded. 2nd, 3rd and 4th are all up for grabs!
M3 - I have an interesting decision to make. If I DON'T compete in the last event, I gain 3 points in drops. That puts me out of reach of Curtis, locking me into 3rd. If I do compete, I have to get at least 2 points (5th) to stay ahead of Curtis (assuming he finishes 1st, which he is capable of). If I tie with Curtis, I lose the tie-breaker. But, competing also opens me up to 2nd place if I can beat Tyler by at least 1 point. If I tie with Tyler, I win the tie-breaker. Play it safe and lock-in 3rd... or gamble for a shot at 2nd?
M4 - Done
R1 - If Elliot makes one run at the last event, he wins. Nobody else qualified.
S0 - Done
S1 - 3rd could be stolen from Randy Barerra. Even less likely, somebody could steal 2nd from Doug Adams.
S2 - Doug & Eva are fighting for 2nd! Remote possibility of someone reaching up and stealing 3rd.
S3 - Kevin England could steal 2nd from Nate Williams IF he has a top finish (9 points) and Nate finishes with 2 or fewer points.
S4 - Done
S5 - Rob Ledwell and Sara Tinsley are fighting for 2nd.
There are an awful lot of possibilities for a season with only one event left!

Somebody check me on my logic here...
Curtis can't bump me out of 3rd in M3 unless I let him tie. He would have to finish first in class for 9 points, and I would have to finish below 5th for 1 point, and he would win the tie. So, all I have to do is make sure I get at least 2 points by finishing 5th or higher. My lowest finish all season has been 4th, so that seems like a pretty safe bet. And if somebody (like, oh, Idunno... Joe?) finishes ahead of Curtis, it's a moot point.
To move up to 2nd, I have to finish one position higher than Tyler. Just one point higher puts us in a tie, and I win that tie.

And as long as either of you hold Curtis out of first... I'm good.
We decided this morning that the FASTiva is officially retired. Don't want to try to sell it with a blown engine, and don't want to swap the engine again. So, it's out. I'll need a ride for July 30. Something on par with Tyler's car, he deserves a fighting chance!

A gentleman would let the car owner have one shot at a T shirt. Thus not forcing said car owner to "correct" your dirty runs on the laptop. Hmmmmm.dan wrote:Ha, I was completely looking in the rules page... totally puts a little spring in my step today.
Ron, aka, "cone man" was totally clean on his last event without a course walk. Hopefully Joe B will stay home? He owns M2. Have you ever had a Ron "bitch slap". Whoa.
Just sayin'.
