FALL came two days late for some Sept 23 racers
I did the bump stops in the front and wow what a difference car felt so much better but I still got beat pretty good. I guess I need to start playing with the camber.

FALL came two days late for some Sept 23 racers
So what was the consensus on the slalom entry? It seemed like from watching the first run group in the morning that most preferred the faster left side entry vs the right side entry with a faster exit.
I'm pretty sure I stayed right every time.

FALL came two days late for some Sept 23 racers
I never tried it to the left, but I think it was almost a true "option". Entering on the right was possible (at least for most people) without lifting, and gave a benefit (in my opinion) on the exit. But, entering on the left wasn't necessarily a "painful" exit, it was just a continuation of the slalom. I think it could be done either way, but my preference was to enter on the right.

I need more practice setting up for slaloms like those, they've always given me trouble as I drop too much speed.
But I tried left and didn't like how it set me up at the end, so I went with right, which I didn't notice to much drop off in entry speed, but found it much easier to maintain my speed with that faster exit.
Need to check my video. I tried to setup gps logging via track addict, and the app wasn't letting me set it up on an old phone without an update (phone had no internet).

I noticed the same regarding the left entry/exit but liked the look of the cleaner right side exit. I believe I entered left all times but it was noted that I may have accidentally entered on the right for my final run..
Entering left was beneficial for me because it allowed me to use all of third gear and really pick up some speed. As Loren noted, if your car is slow enough that you didn't have to lift (let alone brake) to get to the right, then it'll make almost no difference as far as entrance speed and allow you to have a cleaner exit.
Cliff notes: fast cars enter left, slow cars enter right would be my recommendation if we see the course again

But I agree, if you were able to carry a ton of speed leading up to the entrance, taking the right side would have made you shave off a lot of speed. If I would have been in the Speed3, I would have gone left every time.

Oh, but if we run this course again, you can bet that slalom will never be exactly the same. Either just by chance variances in placement at setup... or more likely because we're evil and like to keep you guessing.
One of the biggest reasons we moved the exit gate on that slalom 2 feet to the left (which opened up the whole notion of "entering on the right") was that several people commented immediately after the course map was posted that they were going to take the slalom to the left! We like to mess with those people. Walk the course! Look at the actual placement. Make your critical decisions based on the actual COURSE, not on the map! Remember, the cones on the map are about 4' diameter... that allows for a lot of flexibility in exact placement on final setup.

Anyway, I tried the slalom both ways, but I think my car liked the left slalom entry best, stretching out that straight, the exit was fine that way too.
Ben, thanks again for your help buddy. I found a whole second, oui! I needed to find like 3 more lol. It's a start.

Based on the drawing I originally thought I'd go left the first time at least. After one walk I changed my mind. Oh, that and watching the next to last slalom cone get punted by a dozen faster drivers over driving the finish. A few consistently got away with it. Not many. I went right every time. After my second run, it was a no-lift, no-brake entry. It was tight for sure and I had to mentally block the self-preservation side of the brain a bit to keep my foot in it that hard, but the reward on the exit seemed well worth it to me. Who knows, maybe if I had tried left I could have been a smidge closer to Mark.
Racing... because golf only requires one ball.

A no brake no lift to the right? Sheesh, if I would have had the nerve to try that I may have been in the 35s.. likely would have just found a way to cone away my run
