That's gonna be a ball!

By "different" do you mean "separate" or will there actually be two dissimilar layouts? I guess what I'm curious about is will one course truly be for practice for the official timed course, or will one be for fun runs and settling grudges and the other for official times/points?

The courses are separate, and designed by two different people (I'm doing the practice course, Eric is doing the comp course), so they'll be different. Of course, it's still an airstrip, so how different could it be? Both courses will be simple out-and-back designs with no cross-overs.

Feel free to "practice" in any car you can get the keys to, I don't care. 8) You've got an hour on the practice course with 11-14 of your closest friends, use it wisely!

This will also be a GREAT time for novices to do ride alongs with more experienced drivers...which I can't recommend enough for novices to do.

Still need a few key worker positions filled. Need someone to do safety and someone to run lunch, for sure. Would be a good event for a trained-but-green safety steward to shadow one of the more experienced guys.

Jamie, John Edwards volunteered for a Starter position.

Also, if you'll send me the registration list, I'll do the worker assignments before the event so it won't need to be done on-site. I'd like to have a solid handle on that for this event, anyway.

There's a list of positions on the first page of this thread. I fill 'em off the registration list by the time the registration came in. I also look at the posts on this thread, although I won't guarantee I'll see someone asking for something as soon as I see it in registration.

How do you think it normally gets done, minus adjustments for no-shows and (at SPC) walk-ons? :) Will send you the spreadsheet when pre-registration ends, and signed you up for the extra assignment.

I know how it normally gets done, but I noticed that you had an item on the work list for it and didn't have your name plugged into it. Figured maybe you wanted a break from it. It's something the event chairman should be doing, anyway.

Okay, guys, time to start hitting up the other car forums and getting people registered. I know it seems like December 12 is a long way away... but the deadline for registration is December 3! That's just a week from Thanksgiving day, will be here before you know it.

I made the below post on Tampa Racing, feel free to copy and paste it elsewhere. The code below can be posted directly into a post on any PHPBB forum or anything else that uses BBcode.

Code: Select all

[SIZE="5"]Heads Up, folks![/SIZE]
Just wanted to remind everyone that this is one of only TWO opportunities you'll have to autocross in the month of December, and THE last opportunity in 2009! Miss this one and you'll be carryin' your autocross jones with you until January 17th!

On top of all that, this event is going to be pretty awesome! (dare I say "legendary"?) Why? Because we're running not one but TWO courses! We'll be splitting into groups and running them both at the same time. Switch courses at lunch and do it again. You're looking at about 12 runs (possibly more) on two different courses!

All that fun, plus the World Famous FAST lunch, for just $30. You can't go wrong. So, spread the word on the other local car forums. We have a 60-car limit, and this would be a great event for us to reach that limit.

For those who aren't familiar with Brooksville autocross events, a couple of important things:
1. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER - no later than December 3rd. (that's next week!) This is due to airport security rules, we can't allow you on-site if you're not on the list that is submitted a week prior to the event.
2. YOU MUST BE ON TIME - if you show up after 9am, nobody will be at the gate to let you in.

AND LASTLY, just to answer a bunch of questions, I'm going to regurgitate the standard event info:

Following the rules Steve and I set up: I'm not registered. Probably a good idea, though -- I may put myself on the list and turn out to chase cones for a little bit, but the car's not happy right now....spent a couple of hours underneath with a torque wrench yesterday, and didn't find anything responsible for the rattle in the front end. Not much time between now and the 12th....

My car has a nice click in the left front.. new bearings all around, new UCAs, I think the spring is hitting the knuckle.. but it seems to be OK so december is kinda a test before tracking the car again for me :P It's not an axle either.. steth indicates noise is generating near the upper ball joint, it's near silent on the axle.
