I was at the actual drift event there back in 2004 and know they were less than happy with the event, even though no one crashed or anything. I don't want to ruin your relationship with the venue of course either.

I attend as much drift practices as possible, but they are lacking this season and I'm trying to dial in some more grip from my car while in a slide. If I come out there I'll stick to just some fun autox with no intent on being a drift practice. What we really need to do is get someone in charge of the venue in for a ride-a-long and change their mind! hahaha!

I expected it to be a no go for what I'm looking for, but thanks for entertaining the idea lol. Maybe I'll still make it out for some fun anyways.

If I register, I think I should be in the ER class 2 maybe? I'm not in it to win it, just to play..
I'm running a 1991 Nissan 240sx with a LS1 swap, on street performance radials.

Because of the engine swap, E1 is the right class.

I should have noted above that SPC laid down fresh, unsealed asphalt this year. I've already seen a few spots where the police cars have been wearing the pavement. FYSA.

 But, nobody sitting in an office on the 2nd floor of the SPC admin building next door would notice my Yaris on course at all. A car being followed by a cloud of tire smoke and apparently (to the uninitiated) sliding out of control half-way across the course... they might notice that! (hey, they noticed me hooning one day when we went out a day before our event to pre-set the course... they've been known to look out the window from time to time)

How embarrassing.... caught in the middle of the day, alone, right smack in the middle of unauthorized hooning! Yellow_Colorz_PDT_04

Do that in the wrong spot and you may end up with a ticket or in front of a judge!

Be careful out there...

I learned my lesson. All of my hooning is fully authorized these days. 8)

Good to hear... We're taking a blat to Sarasota today. Love those Brit car terms.

Good points, Loren.

Hooning is bad, m'kay?

Scott,

I sure hope you mean #7, but if it's #9 better not let Mary find out... Yellow_Colorz_PDT_04

This board is so educational...

It was most certainly a #7. However... it was pretty hot, so I guess there are some parallels to a #9 Yellow_Colorz_PDT_04

I always thought a "blat" was the sound the open exhaust makes on a carburetted car upon deceleration. Picture a vintage race car screaming up to a hard turn... brakes, "blat blat", throttle blip, double clutch, "blat blat blat blat".

In fact, it's such an awesome sound that the Ozark Mountain Region SCCA named their newsletter after it:
http://www.omrscca.org/docs/blat/2003/B" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... Sept03.pdf

(you learn stuff like this when you're an SCCA regional newsletter editor... this is also where I learned Oklahoma Region's tagline: "Every car is a sports car... sometimes.")

Now, that may not go over too well with Mrs. Sharf, and we don't want Howard sleeping in the barn with the trailer.
So, will someone, pretty please, tow the trailer?
Howard's wife certainly seems to be understanding of his obsession, but that might be a bit much.

I'd been hoping that someone else would step up and tow so I could drive my own car (for a change) but since that hasn't happen put me down to tow. I'll see about registering tomorrow.

That sounds like a much better option for drift practice. CFRC is a neat site, and the guys who run it are cool.

Yeah, we run at Brooksville. (who doesn't? )

Your best bet for finding local autox events (ours and everyone else's) is Jeremy's schedule on TR: http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/auto-" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... edule.html

I bet the Corvette club guys would love you... since you have one of their engines under your hood! But, their next autox isn't until September.

FYI, SCCA is running at Brooksville the weekend before this event. (July 10) One thing about Brooksville autocrosses, no matter which club you run with, odds are that nobody's gonna bitch if you drift the turn-around at the far end of the course!

G is still pretty healthy.

And there were 53 entries total last night. Better get registered if you're going to, folks!

1 less in E2.
I just got the official word - I'm not gonna make it again.
I'll still be there to open up and drop off the reg. box, and I'll come back at the end to do the reverse...

I guess I'm done until the 2011 season starts in Sept...E2 better watch out!

OK, I finally registered and put my self down for trailer towing.

As I did I realized I have no idea what class to register for. For that matter, I have no idea what car I'm going to drive! I can't drive my own because I'll be in the SUV towing the trailer.

So will some kind person please offer to let me beat the snot ... errr ... I mean, would someone kindly let me gently drive your wonderful car? Pretty please!

Any car, any class. It doesn't matter.

If you don't mind doing a little coaching, you can drive with me. Register as #22 and all we have to do is change the number "1". It will be the first time out on brand new tires and a new alignment. 99 Miata in G. Joe

I'll vouch for him...he's easy on cars...drives them gently around the course just fast enough to warm up the tires.

Well I just got "volunteered" for Gulf Oil Spill duties and I had to cancel my registration Yellow_Colorz_PDT_13 so Kenny will be the only Impala representing. I'll be at the Bay Point Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Panama City for a month. Yellow_Colorz_PDT_08
