TracAction, absolutely, positively no later than 9, and as early as 7. Read on:
To All:
Registration has hit its limit at 70. If anyone asks, at SPC we can take last minute on-site entries (unlike Brooksville). Since we will undoubtedly have some no-shows, there will in all likelihood be some spots available that morning. We'll be giving pre-reg'd folks until 9, and at that point will begin taking on-site entries on a first-come basis up to the 70 entry limit.

Mark Jones has stepped up and volunteered to co-chair w/ me => Awesome.
Here's where we're at for workers:
Course setup (arrive at 7 am):
1. Drew
2. Brian Kollar
Registration(arrive at 7 am):
1.
2.
Tech:
1. Dave
2.
Pickup Lunch:
1. Jolene
Safety/worker chief:
1.
Trailer and Timing setup:
1.
Trailer & Timing delivery:
1. the Flowerses
Jeff, go ahead and call dibs on any of the above. Are Kenny & Jamie permanantly handling timing & worker/safety? Are they burnt out yet? Is anyone else trained on this stuff? Might be a great event to have "co-timing" and "co-safety." Or not. *Shrug*
TracAction, we'll have plenty to get done when you roll up @ 8am. Get registered, then head over to the trailer and ask what needs doin'.
It's great to see so many people volunteering before the event - lets fill up the rest of those jobs, 'eh?

I'll do one of the registration slots - would be great to have one more to help, though - it can get a little hectic what with the extra forms SPC makes us use.
I believe Jamie is not going to be able to make it again - work.

Sounds like you aren't gonna make this one - you could always try showing up early to fill a no-show spot...

Dan: I'll still try to be there at 7, so I can still help with stuff in the early morning before tech stuff as well. Do we have some painters tape left to keep by the tech area for those that need it? Obviously it would be best for numbers to be on the cars already, but if someone has to stick them on real quick it won't hurt for the painters tape to be kept by tech..

Chances are very good that the number you have issued on the registration list is going to be your number, just check it a few days before the event.TracAction wrote:as to numbers how high is the chance we will have the number we uesd to register?

I'll do trailer and timing setup (I learned how to get the trailer setup at brooksville last event) since kenny will not be availble, as best as I can, If you need a cheif instructor/ Novice walkthrough guy I might be able to instruct too. as for setting up the T+S system I can hook it up but i've never laid eyes on it before. I'm sure I can wrestle through it if need be. but if there is someone more experenced with OUR setup they might want to get me up to speed.
or kenny, can you write a script for getting the system up and running it would help incase no-one shows up that knows.
regards
Jeff

TracAction,
The numbers on MyAutoEvents must be unique, so the number it shows there is the number you got.
Check this thread:
http://www.kickflop.net/autocrossbb/vie" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 6&start=30
As long as your number isn't listed in the Mar. 15 post with the most recent list of reserved numbers, you are good to go. If it is there, you'll be assigned a new number at the event.
Either way, there is a small chance of a last minute change, but no biggie...

Like Steve said, I have weekend duty, so can't make it Saturday. I'll be happy to draft up run groups and work assignments in advance and send them to you, if it helps -- can give you a couple of options to work based on the turnout.d_rasp wrote:Are Kenny & Jamie permanantly handling timing & worker/safety?
I've been deconflicting numbers with the reserved number list as registrations came in -- for a few people, I had to invent a fourth choice, but the numbers listed on MAE are the numbers everyone should have for the event.Native wrote:The numbers on MyAutoEvents must be unique, so the number it shows there is the number you got.
Unless you're trying to use the computer (which we haven't yet, except for test purposes), hooking it up is all that's needed -- you can record the times the old-fashioned way on the entry sheets. Initialize the timer before you start the event or if you have to stop for a timer problem (there's a switch marked "initialize"). Last car through the lights is always window 3.treekiller wrote:as for setting up the T+S system I can hook it up but i've never laid eyes on it before.
If you do choose to use the computer, it's wise to keep a written tally of times as a backup.

the timer is a joke to set up, jac was making the same timers 15 years ago, I was specifically talking about running the software. as spc is powered there is no generator to worry about. so the only concern I have is the software. not that it could be that complicated. with 70 cars and a car crossing the line every 20 seconds the sooner we can get the software to "reliable" status the better. paper tickets start loosing their effectiveness at 25 seconds per car, then you'll get the dreaded "hold the start" for a single min you "hold" you loose 3 min of runs. or 9 runs @ 20 sec i know it sounds silly but I hate to hear those 3 words. "HOLD THE START" it drills my nerves just typing it.

I can do tech.
or safety, but I don't want to do worker assignments.
When did safety get grouped with worker assignments? lol.
As if either one of those jobs wasn't enough work by itself.
Honestly you should have at least 2 safety stewards. Someone shouldn't be a safety steward while they are driving.

Speaking of safety folks...
I'd be happy to take the time to train another one if someone is interested. Preferably someone who's been to at least a few autocrosses (more is better) and has a good eye for detail.
This training will actually begin the week BEFORE the event with some reading material and discussion (via email is fine). Will continue at the event as we review the course for safety and all that fun stuff.
If anyone's interested, let me know.

Thanks for offering a train another safety steward. It's an imporant job that it easy to overlook in all the hustle & bustle, usually only the steward themselves and the event chair are even aware of what's going on with safety decisions. Great position for someone to train for.
Big perk = learning about course design from Loren.
